EVE Online gets a crossover with the best series ever

The makers of EVE Online and BBC Studios have announced a collaboration. The sci-fi MMO will soon be haunted by one of the most famous and best series on the planet: Doctor Who.

What kind of series is that? If you have to ask what kind of series it is, please go straight to your basement and watch all seasons of Doctor Who in one go. Or at least the new ones from 2005 to today, which are a little easier to digest.

Seriously, Doctor Who is the best series ever and even went down in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running series. For me it means a piece of youth and nostalgia. Every minute of the show is worth it! Or … well, you read the summary below.

Now the well-known space MMO EVE Online is starting a crossover with Doctor Who and brings another opportunity to explore the already huge universe with an area specially designed for the event. The event runs from January 13th to February 1st, 2022.

Daleks and Artifacts of the Time Lords in EVE Online

This is in the event: In the “Interstellar Convergence” you should uncover mysteries by following clues and completing tasks. There are new corners of the universe to explore and thematic items to be collected.

In addition, you will receive rewards that you can take back to New Eden, into the world of EVE Online. A login campaign brings you skill points and items in Doctor Who style. At the center of the event, however, is a great war.

With special artifacts you prepare yourself for the fight against the greatest enemies of the Doctor and the Time Lords: the Daleks!

What are Daleks? Members of this people of warriors look in their armor like upturned garbage cans with coffee mug hoods, toilet plungers and curling irons, but they are responsible for the elimination of countless living beings.

In the nearly indestructible tanks sit genetically modified mutants that were basically bred to destroy all non-Daleks. And now you should make sure that they don’t do just that. One of her flying saucers could already be seen in the trailer. Looks quaint, but is extremely dangerous.

A piece of childhood and youth in EVE Online

First broadcast on the BBC in 1963, Doctor Who is about the Doctor’s adventures. Yes, just the Doctor, not Doctor Who. This human-like alien can travel through time and space – with his trusty spaceship, the Tardis.

He visits different places and times, meets friends and enemies and simply experiences adventures.

The franchise includes over 39 seasons of the series, multiple films, books, and more. Doctor Who is considered to be the longest running series of all time. There are even museum exhibits on Doctor Who and video games.

To me Doctor Who means that a good part of my past found its way into EVE Online. Although I only started with the new series from 2005, I still devoured everything I could find afterwards about the doctorate. I was 12 or 13 years old then.

I was fascinated by the series for years and (almost) every year in December there was a Christmas special for the current season. My highlight of the year over the past 16 years. It is practically impossible to “briefly” summarize the plot. That would fill books and, after all, it already has. Nevertheless, I’ll give you a few key points:

The doctor is a “time lord” who can travel through time with his spaceship (the TARDIS).
The sonic screwdriver is the doctor’s universal tool and more useful than any weapon imaginable. He can … almost anything.
His Tardis always looks like a British police box from the 1920s. And it’s bigger inside than outside. I don’t want to spoil why.
The doctor takes companions with him so as not to forget how to make moral decisions. It’s very old and you tend to forget something like that.
The entire plot revolves around a huge, technically endless war between Time Lords and Daleks and explains why the Doctor is constantly traveling around. By the way, the event takes place before this war.
