NBA star Shaquille O’Neal is giving away 1,000 PS5 and Switch consoles each to children in need

Getting a PS5 is already quite difficult for many fans, let alone 1,000.

Many console fans are unlikely to have got hold of any of the coveted next-gen consoles for Christmas either and will have to be patient. Not so NBA star Shaquille O’Neal: For the ex-basketball professional, one call is enough to secure 1,000 PS5 and Nintendo Switch consoles at once. Of course, he didn’t just do this for fun, but to help children in need.

PS5 and Switch consoles for a good cause

This is what it’s about: The former professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers is known for making donations to charity. To make some children in need happy this Christmas, he called “a friend at Nintendo Switch” and bought 2,000 Nintendo Switch and PS5 consoles. The whole thing is all the more astonishing, of course, when you consider how difficult it is still to get to the PlayStation 5 in particular. He also picked up several bicycles from Walmart. Im “The Gary Vee Audio Experience”-Podcast O’Neal spoke with host Gary Vaynerchuk about the importance of giving back to him. Because he knows what it means to have little:

My father was a drill sergeant, my mother was just a hard working woman. They had little, but they taught me how much it is worth giving back.

More sweet stories for a cozy gut feeling:

Armed with a Switch, PS5, and bicycles, O’Neal went to an elementary school in McDonough, Georgia, and distributed his gifts to many of the children who might otherwise not have seen a console for Christmas. In the podcast he reports that many of the children cried tears of joy and were happy. “And that’s exactly what it’s about,” said O’Neal.
