Samsung has a TV remote that should have been created by Apple

This Samsung remote is charged via Wi-Fi, a technology worthy of Apple.

Samsung and Apple are rivals in many markets, and partners in some others. But nevertheless Korean company just introduced Apple-worthy innovation. It is a new remote control for your televisions that is capable of charging via Wi-Fi waves.

Samsung has just introduced an update to its Eco Remote for its QLED televisions that is capable of recharged using radio frequency waves, such as those emitted by routers with Wi-Fi connection. In addition, this control can also recharge its battery using sunlight and USB-C.

Aside from the new RF recharging option, the Eco Remote can be charged from both indoor and outdoor light or (for the fastest results) via USB-C.

Apple TV 4K and the new Siri Remote

Samsung’s philosophy with its controls very reminiscent of Apple with the Siri Remote on Apple TV. We have a lightweight design with very few buttons that is shit by a battery. However, Samsung has gone a step further, and its remote can be recharged only by solar energy or, now, thanks to Wi-Fi. Apple’s only charges via the Lightning cable.

Samsung’s secret “Tiger” plan to take on Apple

Apple upgraded the Apple TV’s Siri Remote last year, however it was a change of design rather than functions. It would have been quite an innovation to launch a remote with functions like those of Samsung’s Eco Remote, especially considering Apple’s concern for the environment.

Very interesting this Samsung technology, which hopefully expands to other devices. There is no doubt that recharging using radio frequency waves is very small, and that only devices that use as little power as a remote control can take advantage of it at the moment, but it is a very interesting step.
