While you don’t get a PS5, a celebrity gets 1000 pieces – but for a good cause

Even today it is still not that easy to get a PlayStation 5. The basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, on the other hand, apparently got hold of a mountain of consoles – and used it to please children.

Who is the person you are talking about? Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most famous players in basketball. He made his mark on the American NBA over the years.

In addition to his basketball career, “Shaq” is also otherwise active, including published several music albums, starred in various films or appeared in the wrestling ring. He also invested in the NRG esports team.

Now he has appeared on the podcast “The GaryVee Audio Experience” (via Apple Podcasts) and talked to the host Gary Vaynerchuk about various topics – including Christmas and the topic of gifts.

This is how the PS5 donation came about: O’Neal tells in the podcast about his parents, who always had little, but had taught him how important it was to give something back: “They taught me the importance of helping people in need.”

Most of all, he wants to make sure that children get “good presents” for Christmas, says O’Neal. In the past he has repeatedly drawn attention to himself with charity campaigns in which he organized toys and the like.

So this year too: He talks about having contacted a friend and “ordered around 1000 switches and 1000 PS5s. I went to Walmart and bought bikes. And yesterday in that little elementary school in McDonough, Georgia, the kids were crying, the kids were happy. And that’s what it’s about. ”

PS5 still hard to come by

This is the PS5 situation: The fact that you get to 1,000 PS5 consoles (or switches, by the way) should be an absolutely exceptional situation. Shaquille O’Neal will be able to fall back on contacts and, if in doubt, a lot of money to organize the charity campaign.

In normal PS5 everyday life, however, it still looks different.

Although the PS5 is now over a year old, it’s still hard to come by. Numerous dealers keep getting contingents of the console, but they are regularly sold out again after a very short time.
