Eurojackpot balance 2021: record year with 19 hits

Essen.
With 19 direct hits in the first prize class, Eurojackpot tipsters were extremely successful in the past year.

Record number of jackpots hit

There have never been so many: in 2021, the Eurojackpot lottery had the highest number of jackpots in a year-on-year comparison. There were 19 winners in 17 drawings and the jackpot was split twice. This corresponds to an average of one hit every three weeks in prize class 1.

Extraordinary because it was unique: on November 5th, the starting jackpot was hit by several players for the first time. Two players from Saxony-Anhalt and Spain shared the jackpot with 5.1 million euros each. This has never happened before in the 511 draws so far.

Two new German 90 million prizes

In 2021, two German players proved that you can become a 90-time millionaire in the first prize class. In January, the record sum went to North Rhine-Westphalia, more precisely to East Westphalia, for the second time. This had already been achieved in 2020. At the end of May, Hesse celebrated the largest possible lottery win in Germany for the first time. The winner came from the Wiesbaden area.

Since the lottery was founded, there are now eight 90-fold multi-millionaires at Eurojackpot. Five of them come from Germany.

There was another 90 million jackpot in 2021, but this was hit by two players. Tipper from Finland and Poland were happy about 45 million euros each in August.

The profit of 73.7 million euros shortly before Christmas in North Rhine-Westphalia was also particularly noteworthy. Even on Christmas Eve, the Eurojackpot lottery was able to put around 12.7 million euros under the Christmas tree for a German tipster. The profit was paid out in Rhineland-Palatinate – Christmas presents XXL.

Last year there were two special anniversaries at Eurojackpot: On March 12th, not only 63.6 million euros went to Baden-Württemberg – the lucky jackpot winner was also the 100th of the lottery.

Another event was celebrated on October 15th. The 500th drawing took place on that day. As luck would have it, another German participant was able to look forward to a jackpot win on that day: A Lower Saxon celebrated over 33.2 million euros.

In the Eurojackpot lottery in 2021, a total of 38 players were delighted with their million dollar fortune in the form of eight or seven-digit amounts.

In the past year, the total number of millionaires since the lottery started in March 2012 rose to 349, 189 of them from Germany.
