The lightest twilight in Destiny 2 was supposed to be harder – but something went terribly wrong

Destiny 2 actually wanted to turn the lightest twilight strike “Lake of Shadows” into a bigger challenge. The strike boss was therefore given more life in the last update 3.4.0.1. But in the meantime the players have noticed: Twilight is easier than ever and are farming again.

Some Dawns in Destiny 2 play better than others. Especially “Lake of Shadows” counts as the easiest front runner strike. That was also the reason why many players farmed this strike up and down on the difficulty level “leader” for ascendant fragments and good loot. In update 3.4.0.1, Bungie buffed the strike boss “Grasks” and gave him more life to make it harder.

  • Grask’s health has been increased by 34% to a total of 134% of the previous value.
  • The adaptation should bring the strike in line with the “modern sandbox gameplay”.
  • Bungie promised the strike boss would hold out for at least a minute or two, even against the Gjallarhorn.
  • The little trick with the Bessessenen bubbles has also been fixed so that enemies can no longer be prevented from spawning.

Strike Boss only lasts seconds after the buff: While the fix for the “possessed-bubbles” trick worked, the strike boss himself doesn’t seem to have changed. On the contrary. Instead of being heavier, it is currently even easier.

Grasks, the corrupted and possessed cabal boss in the Lake of Shadows, continues to be melted by the Guardians within seconds. For most of the task forces it is already there before additional enemies can spawn in the boss room. Apparently, not much has changed in that regard even after the Bungie buff, as players now want to have determined.

the Destiny-2-YouTuber und Content Creator Aoterra shows in a video the direct comparison between “Lake of Shadows” runs before and after Bungie’s buff. If there has been a change, it doesn’t seem to have been very effective.

The boss kill time before and after the buff in the “Lake of Shadows”.

The before and after test hardly shows any difference: The test is carried out with the same loadout. A fireteam member plays Divinity for additional damage.

  • Before the patch, the strike boss was dead within 9 seconds (with thunder cracks)
  • After the patch, it takes about 11 seconds

This is basically longer, but you have to take into account that in the video before the patch a team member pulls his Arkus-Super and flies into the boss with a “thunderous crash”. That causes a lot of individual damage and means: Before the patch, the twilight boss even had more life.

What went wrong? Bungie has not yet commented on this. The buff should certainly not be so subtle. Especially since the developer spoke of “a minute or two” in the patch notes when it came to staying power. The health buff that Bungie probably wanted to implement for this strike seems to have little or no effect.

If you still want to farm, you should be quick: It is easy to imagine that the strike “Lake of Shadows” will be improved again in the near future. However, it is unknown whether that will happen this week while the strike is in the front-runner rotation of the vanguard playlist.

The simplest strike in Destiny 2 can still be farmed even more easily than before, until it is adjusted again.

Now that this is out, are you going to embrace a few more Ascendant fragments and Exotics in the “Lake of Shadows”? Has Bungie made a mistake here or do you think that was the adjustment and more is not to come?
