Navigating Apple Maps while exploring towns and cities with the aerial view is great and cool, but even more so with 3D mode!
When you are exploring an environment in satellite mode – the way in which you can see all the details of an area thanks to satellite images – a button with the text “3D” appears in the upper right corner of your iPhone and iPad . It is also available on the Mac in Explore mode. By clicking on the 3D button, you will access a three-dimensional mode with which you can enjoy a totally different and more complete perspective of the maps.
To use the 3D mode of Apple Maps follow these steps:
1. Abre Apple Maps.
2. Press the globe-shaped button.
3. Choose Satellite mode.
4. Zoom into any rural area, town or city.
5. Click on the 3D button in the upper right corner.
2. The “Flyover” mode
Another of the most wonderful features of the Apple Maps application is the mode Flyover. A way that, as its name suggests, gives us a flying tour of the city. In addition, when you activate this function you have the possibility to control the exploration of 3D images with augmented reality. In other words, when you move your iPhone or iPad to the side, you can discover the city without having to touch the screen.
But this is not all, and you can also perform touch gestures on the screen to zoom, zoom out, move around the map, rotate the view (with two fingers). When you press the button “Start tour” the application itself is in charge of giving you an air tour of the city automatically. The only downside to this great Apple Maps feature is that it isn’t available in every city in the world.

2. Search for a city in the search field on the main menu.
3. do tap on the name of the city.
4. Click on the “Flyover” button on the city tab.
3. The “Panoramic View”
The arrival of this functionality to the iPhone and iPad has finally allowed Apple Maps to compete with Google Maps. If Google maps have “Street View” to help users better navigate their routes, Apple has its “Panoramic View”.
The Panoramic View in Apple Maps works a bit differently than Street View does, but we’re basically talking about the same thing. When you enable the Panoramic View of Apple Maps, the “first person” images at street level appear in miniature; on one corner of the iPad and Mac, and on top of the iPhone. However, you can enlarge the view by pressing on a button.
When you press twice on the Panoramic View image, the area that appears in the images of your vision will advance towards the point you have indicated. On the other hand, if you keep your finger pressed on the screen and slide to one side, the images will rotate to the side you have chosen. Remember that it is a 360 degree panoramic view.
You can also change the area of the Panoramic View by sliding your finger on the screen to place the binoculars-shaped icon on the map, which is a much more efficient and simple method.
Follow these steps to start the Panoramic View of your iPhone and iPad:
1. Abre Apple Maps.
2. Place your vision of the map in a town or city.
3. Access Satellite mode.
4. Click on the button in the shape of binoculars in the lower left corner (iPhone) or in the lower right corner (iPad).
4. The travel guides
Travel guides on Apple Maps.
Another of the star functions of Apple Maps is the possibility of exploring travel guides within the application itself. Thanks to them you will be able to know more details, curiosities and points of interest of the places you want to go.
