Sony is set to bring a long-awaited feature to PS4 and PS5 in 2022

Sony regularly brings new features to the PS4 and PS5. Now users hope that another feature will come in 2022.

Sony is diligently expanding its PS5 with new features and functions. At the end of 2021, Sony had activated the use of an SSD in the PS5. However, some features that users might like should also follow in 2022. A PS5 Pro will also be presented in the near future.

Now players are hoping that a long-awaited feature could come to the PS4 and PS5. We are talking about Discord, a popular communication platform for gamers.

Is Discord finally coming to PS4 and PS5?

What happened now? A user posted a screenshot on reddit showing how to register on Discord (via reddit.com).

The picture shows that he can log into Discord with his PlayStation account (PlayStation Network) and link the two accounts.

But so far there is no official information as to whether this is really true and how exactly such an integration of Discord and the PS4 and PS5 should look. There is no official announcement yet. However, Sony had partnered with Discord in 2021.

However, if there is an official announcement from Sony, we will update the news for you and add the relevant information.

Sony had partnered with Discord

Sony partnered with Discord in May 2021 (via sie.com). Sony had announced that they wanted to integrate Discord firmly into the PlayStation.

Sony’s boss Jim Ryan had declared that they wanted to connect Discord and PlayStation more closely:

Our teams are already working hard to connect Discord to your social network and your PlayStation Network gaming experience. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences on console and mobile even closer together by early next year so that friends, groups and communities can meet, have fun and communicate more easily while playing games together.

The first screenshots that users can link their accounts therefore don’t seem surprising. However, this suggests that Sony is already significantly further with the integration than has been officially announced. In the end, it’s only a matter of time before Sony officially introduces the Discord integration on the PS4 and PS5.

More functions should come to the PS5

Sony had announced that they would work on many new features for the PS5. Hideaki Nishino, Vice President for Platform Experience at PlayStation, said that they wanted to take care of a large list of functions and that they had received a lot of requests from gamers.

And there are a few things gamers want in their PS5, including:

  • Support of WQHD resolution (1440p)
  • Own folders on the PlayStation 5 for games, music and co
  • Themes for the PS5

He hadn’t said which of these should be implemented in the future, but in the future we are sure to expect some exciting features and functions on the PS5:
