Uber app stops working on Apple Watch
You will no longer be able to order Uber races from the comfort of your wrist.
Apparently the Uber app has stopped offering support for Apple Watch. This means that those who try to program a taxi service within the application designed for the Apple Watch, they will come across a message saying that the Uber mobile app has ended its support for the smart watch of the Cupertino.
Yes indeed, in the App Store the application is still available to download on Apple Watch, and nowhere in its description is it made clear that support has ended. If you download and open it, however, you will come across a rather poorly worded message that tells us the following:
“Please switch to the Uber mobile app. We no longer support the Apple Watch app. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
On the other hand, the website of Uber continues to mention the Apple Watch as one of the devices supported by the service, something quite strange considering that the support stopped being active in the middle of December 8, 2021.
Uber has not updated its application for Apple Watch for a while. For this, it was impossible to order an UberPOOL, share our trip or contact the driver from the application designed for watchOS. Unfortunately, despite 9to5Mac’s praise for the application claiming it was a great example of innovation, support for it has ended within the service.
Uber is not the first to withdraw its service from the Apple Watch. In 2018, famous Uber competitor Lyft withdrew its support for Apple Watch and since then it has not been possible to contract a service from the Apple watch. Of course, we can receive notifications on our Apple Watch, something is something. We’ll see if Uber ends up removing the app from the App Store or if they update their website by finally removing support for Apple Watch.
