No surprise: GTA 6 could become the only new Rockstar game for PS5 / Xbox Series X.

If GTA 6 appears, it should be the only PS5 and Xbox Series X game from Rockstar for PS5 and Xbox Series XS.
If GTA 6 is released, it should be Rockstar’s only PS5 and Xbox Series X game for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.

GTA 6 is likely to be in development and will be released for PS5 and Xbox Series S / X at some point. But that’s probably about it from Rockstar for this generation of consoles. At least that’s what an insider explains, and this assessment sounds very credible. After all, huge games take a lot of time and even with the PS4 and Xbox One generation, Rockstar Games only released one new game with Red Dead Redemption 2.

GTA 6, like RDR 2, will likely remain the only new rock star game per generation

This is what it’s about: It is more or less certain that GTA 6 will appear at some point. However, the game has not yet been officially announced and we therefore do not yet know when it will be released. But it should take a while, maybe even until 2025.

GTA 6 fans can hardly believe the alleged 2025 release

GTA 6 and that’s it? According to Insider and Leaker AccountNGT, Rockstar Games are not releasing another new game in this generation of consoles. Apart from remaster versions and next-gen upgrades, the only real new game on PS5 and Xbox Series S / X awaits us only GTA 6 – if at all: GTA 6 can still be crushed, although that seems unlikely.

Wouldn’t be unusual: That may surprise and sadden the one or the other, but it does not seem improbable. After all, Rockstar Games has only released one really new game in the console generation of PS4 and Xbox One: Red Dead Redemption 2. Many people should not be aware of this, but on closer inspection it is not particularly surprising.

Good things take time: This is mainly due to the fact that such detailed mammoth projects like GTA 6 or RDR 2 simply require an incredible amount of time and work to be finished. With GTA 6 this should be the case even more if the rumors about the alleged development chaos and the rebooting of work on it are true. In addition, Rockstar usually brings new versions of older games to the people (looking at you, GTA 5).

That could come otherwise:

  • GTA 5: A revamped version for PS5 and Xbox Series S / X has been announced for 2022.
  • Red Dead Redemption: A remaster is rumored to be in development
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: Rumor has it that it could get a PS5 / Xbox Series X upgrade as well

Red Dead Redemption 2 may at some point also get its own, improved PS5 and Xbox Series SX version.

Red Dead Redemption 2 may at some point also get its own, improved PS5 and Xbox Series S / X version.

More news on the topic:

What about Bully 2? Rockstar Games seems to concentrate only on the two biggest brands and draft horses of the developer studio: GTA and Red Dead Redemption. A remaster of the latter could possibly appear at some point, GTA 5 is still waiting for its next gen version and RDR 2 may also get a PS5 and Xbox Series S / X upgrade. But according to the same insider (via Twitter) better not hope anymore.

Did you realize that Rockstar is now only bringing out one big new game per console generation?
