These are the 20 most important gamers in the world (when it comes to Twitter)

The social media platform Twitter, also known as “The Courtyard of Hell” and “The Root of All Evil”, has now announced in a blog post which gamers were tweeted about the most in 2021. When it comes to content creators, people from the Minecraft phenomenon Dream lead the way. Surprisingly, the young professionals from Fortnite dominate esports.

Who are the world’s greatest content creators in gaming? The list is the first 5 places internationally:

Colon is a content creator from Japan. He’s mostly on YouTube, where one of his most successful videos revolves around Mario Maker. Colon is also active as a musician in the field of “J-Pop”.

AuronPlay comes in at number 2, the 33-year-old Spaniard is one of the largest Twitch streamers in the world. With 11.1 million followers, he has the second largest channel on Twitch – only Ninja has more people who follow him from his Fortnite days. Auronplay streams everything: Minecraft, GTA, Rust, Among Us.

In third place is Felipe Neto, a 34-year-old Brazilian. That’s a vlogger, actor, and comedian on YouTube. He has 43.6 million subscribers on the video platform and has been active there for ages. As a Brazilian, he complained about 1-7 at the soccer World Cup in his own country against Germany in 2014. When he’s into gaming, he’s about games like Outlast or Minecraft.

Anyone who has always wondered how a Brazilian probably found the 1-7 at the 2014 World Cup … just medium.

4th place goes to the Spaniard Ibai, like AuronPlay he is a successful Twitch streamer. Ibai relies heavily on events, plays everything that is trendy, such as Minecraft, LoL or Rust. Spain has a very lively witch scene there.

The top 5 is completed by the mysterious Minecraft streamer Dream, which never shows its face. Dream is the absolute leader in the English-speaking world when it comes to the gaming bubble. If he makes announcements in Minecraft about which mob should come into the game, then that will be heard. He is especially popular with young fans and has built a network around his private server Dream SMP. Dream also won the “Content Creator of the Year 2021” award in 2021, despite having been convicted of cheating.

Minecraft YouTuber is so popular that people freak out for showing off some hair

In the next places there are 3 more Minecraft streamers from the Dream environment:

  • GeorgeNotFound – a Minecraft streamer
  • Corpse Husband – a content creator with a veiled face and a deep voice. He had his breakthrough on YouTube in 2021.
  • Sapnap – another Minecraft streamer
  • BadBoyHalo – the fourth Minecraft streamer in the bunch
  • Junichi Kato – a Japanese YouTuber and streamer

Fortnite teenagers dominate esports on Twitter

Who are the world’s greatest e-athletes on Twitter? When it comes to esports athletes, the “best players” are not necessarily at the fore, but rather relatively young players on Fortnite:

In first place is Mongraal, a hot-headed Brit known for his tantrums. In the last few years, however, the 17-year-old could be seen getting older and more mature.

In second place comes Bugha (cover picture), who had his finest hour in 2019 when he won the Fortnite World Cup and $ 3 million in prize money. He was 17. He was the second most tweeted about him as an esportsman.

In third place comes Benjiyfish from the Fortnite scene. He made headlines when he was 15 because his mother took him out of school so he could play Fortnite at night. Benifishy predicted the end of the sport at Fortnite in January 2021, but became number 3 among esports athletes on Twitter in 2021.

In fourth place comes Scump, the first from the Call of Duty scene. We once reported about him on MeinMMO because he drove TimTheTatman crazy at an event. Which was fun for everyone involved, except for the streamer, who complained: He will soon be 30, would be bald, just want to be quiet and now this guy is getting him down in public.

In 5th place we find the legendary LoL-ADC Rekkles a “veteran” who is already 25 years old. He is now moving to the 2nd division.

The 25-year-old Rekkles has to surrender to a gang of Fortnite teenagers – at least on Twitter.

Shooters dominated e-sports on Twitter

Sixth place went to the 20-year-old Brazilian Nobru. His game is “Free Fire”, a battle royale for mobile devices.

Another Brazilian follows in 7th place. The 30-year-old trap is a pro in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The Spaniard Mixwell belongs to a different generation. The 20-year-old was also a professional in CS: GO, but switched to Valorant in 2020 and is one of the leading professionals in Riot Games’ shooter.

Also a big number in Valorant is the Canadian Tenz. He once made a name for himself through a spectacular change.

On number 10 comes the Ukrainian s1imple, who is considered the best CS: GO player of all time, but who has problems streaming 2 minutes on Twitch without receiving a ban.

What are the most important games on Twitter? There is a noticeable preference for Asia. The biggest game is actually Genshin Impact, followed by Apex Legends, Ensemble Stars, Final Fantasy and Fate / Grand Order, a mobile game with dreaded monetization from Japan.

Minecraft only comes in 8th place, Fortnite only in 10th place.

In which countries is gaming tweeted? The fact that Twitter is not only a medium for gaming in the English-speaking world can also be seen in the countries that have the most tweets about gaming: Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Brazil together with the USA make up the top 5.

Gaming on Twitter is bigger than ever

What else is there to say? In total, there were 2.4 billion tweets about gaming in 2021 – 14% more than in 2020 and 10 times more than in 2017. In the fourth quarter of 2021 in particular, games were tweeted more often than ever before, Twitter chirps happily.

Twitter also attributes this to the boom in NFTs. In addition, of all things, Halo Infinite is mentioned.

Germany, Austria or Switzerland do not appear anywhere in these lists. Apparently we’re not as tweet-mad in gaming as other regions and countries.

MontanaBlack or HandOfBlood should really give themselves a jolt for 2022:

MontanaBlack wants to leave Germany: “That’s 400,000 € more on my account”
