Dying Light 2’s long-term support promise has us rolling our eyes

The future will show whether Techland has leaned too far out of the window with the promise.

The zombie adventure that has been postponed several times Dying Light 2: Stay Human is finally coming out in a few weeks, which is why more and more details about the game are coming to light. After the statement that the title will offer around 500 hours of playing time, the Techland development team is now around the corner with the next ambitious statement.

Long-term support announced for five years

What’s the next promise? On Twitter, the developer studio takes a look into the future and reveals how Dying Light 2 will continue after the launch. The studio promises that the title will be provided with new content for another 5 years:

What counts as new content? After the release, the title will receive new story sections, more locations to explore, in-game events and items. The predecessor was already provided with new content until the end of 2021, i.e. supported a total of seven more years after the release.

Techland didn’t specify whether the content will come as free downloads or whether we’ll have to pay for it, but if it’s anything like its predecessor, we’re in for a mix of the two. So we could already expect the first new content this year.

Frog meme causes confusion

However, directly below the post is a meme from the development team that is causing a lot of confusion among fans. In the picture you can see a frog with the words that the users have just been “frog”.

The community is unsure if this means that the long-term support statement may be a flat-out lie. Because: Even with the promise that Dying Light 2 will have a total playing time of around 500 hours of play offers, the development team had to backtrack a short time later and specify the statements. The said 500 hours will only be reached if we really listen to every Fitzel dialogue, see every corner of the map, no matter how small, and collect all the collectibles.

However, most are in favor of the fact that due to the many expansions of the predecessor, Dying Light 2 will also have a lot of content to follow. Either way, the meme leaves a stale aftertaste, especially with regard to the statements of the last few weeks, and – like the support announcement – makes us roll our eyes a little.

Do you think Techland can keep its ambitious promise?
