A Raspberry Pi is all it took to bring Apple CarPlay to a Tesla

Apple CarPlay isn’t available on Teslas, but this hasn’t stopped one user from programming a Raspberry Pi and making their car fully compatible.

The Raspberry Pi have unimaginable potential and that only comes to light with the right user. These small motherboards can be used for absolutely anything, there are practically no limitations when using them.

Over the years, what we have seen are varied uses, from users using them to create retro emulators in which to play any type of old title; even people who have decided to use the Raspberry Pi to automatize their homes.

The clearest example of the potential of the Raspberry Pi is what a research team achieved just a few weeks ago. And, it is that, by joining one of these motherboards with a spectroscope, they managed to make the Raspberry Pi capable of identifying viruses by its electromagnetic waves.

This time the plate has not done a feat of that caliber, but what has been achieved using the ingenuity of a user is that Apple CarPlay is compatible with the cars that Tesla manufactures. The electric car company has always been reluctant to integrate CarPlay.

The user has had enough of this situation and what he has done is get hold of a Raspberry Pi and start programming. What he has achieved is that the Apple CarPlay interface appears directly on the screen of the electric car, being completely accessible and working perfectly.

Of course, the most curious of all is that the intelligent functionalities of the Tesla are not lost. The user has commented that he still has all the advantages of having a smart car. In fact, he has also commented that he will continue to update and develop to see how far he can go.

It’s quite interesting to see how a small motherboard is capable of such feats. Of course, it is most likely that seeing that Apple CarPlay can be used in the Tesla only with a Raspberry Pi more users join this project.
