LoL: Team spends tens of millions of euros on stars, wants to destroy everyone – Loses every game
French team Vitality wanted to become the new super team in European League of Legends in 2022. With Perkz and Alphari, two European stars were brought back from the USA for allegedly several million euros. In a video they announced that they would destroy every team in the LEC. But the first 3 matches in LoL 2022 spring season were lost.
Who did you spend so much money on?
Team Vitality has bought back 2 of the biggest European stars playing LoL in the US:
- Croatian Luka “Perkz” Perkovic was a midlaner for Cloud 9 after spending 6 years in Europe at G2 building a reputation as an absolute leader and winner
- Englishman Barney “Alphari” Morris played for Team Liquid in the USA
The two would form the backbone of Team Vitality in 2022.
G2 boss Ocelote tweeted that the French team had to pay 2.5 million euros for Perkz and 1.5 million euros for Alphari. The boss of Team Vitality contradicted the statements, but one can assume that it has already cost a lot to free the stars from the USA.
After all, Perkz is said to have cost 5 million US dollars when moving to the USA. Cloud 9’s boss said they’d lost very little money on resale (via defect).
For this I got the team the ADC Carzzy from the current champions MAD Lions. Jungler Selfmade, who has been part of the team since May 2021, is also considered one of the best junglers in Europe.
Nominally, Team Vitality is undoubtedly one of the best teams to have played together in the LEC.
Apparently, these star players could only be signed because Perkz decided to form “a new super team” in Europe to play for the World Cup. In addition, Team Vitality had opened the coffers of money, in a budget offensive they wanted to become the dominant e-sports team in Europe in 2022.

That was the announcement: On 16.12. Team Vitality released a YouTube video titled “The new Team Vitality roster destroys all LEC teams”.
In the video, Perkz, Alphari, Selfmade, Carzzy and supporter Labrov were seen using baseball bats, crowbars and wearing protective gear to smash through a room displaying LECs team logos.
The announcement in the video was clear: the squad would disassemble everything. Anything but the championship would be a disappointment with this 2022 squad.
This is how it really went: Not good at all. Team Vitality lost the first 3 games of the LEC and slipped to last place in the league.

LoL: “Super team” rather “super worn out”, say observers
Why is it? This is being hotly debated on reddit right now. Of course, you know it’s still early in the season, but the stars have a lot to listen to right now.
- Instead of “Super-Team”, the team is “Super Washed”, says a user on reddit. “Washed up” means players who are no longer able to do it, who are past the peak of their careers: something like “worn-out stars.”
- In the fight against Fnatic, every Team Vitality player played worse than their counterpart – except Jungler Selfmade. In particular, Fnatic’s new top laner, Wunder, was significantly stronger than Alphari, who is now considered “overrated,” according to the mood on reddit.
- A user etches: “Man, these import players from North America are having a really hard time in Europe.”
Team Vitality has to come up with something for the next few weeks, after a super team that really doesn’t end on the first weekend of the LEC.
