Bad news for gamers: the graphics card crisis is getting worse and December was disastrous

The semiconductor crisis is not going to get better, quite the opposite. It’s getting harder and harder to make tech products, and GPUs are taking the brunt of it. So much so that December was the worst month.

The IT sector has a severe problem with the current semiconductor crisis, since its activity is entirely based on these small indispensable elements.

And although there is a queue of months to buy a car, in the gamer market the thing intensifies so that, directly, it is impossible to buy a graphics card if it is not paying three times the recommended price.

But, how is this shortage translated into figures? Well it’s hard, but luckily a Chinese report reflects how much the shipment of graphics dropped, and therefore sales, during the month of December, time that every year is usually good for business thanks to Christmas gifts.

Well, according to this newly released report, in December 2021 graphics card shipments were down 19% in China. Which resulted in only 200,000 units being sold.

BoBoardTang has accounted for the total shipment data of all brand graphics cards sold in China in December 2021, with a drop of almost 20 points compared to November, and about 17% compared to the same period last year.

The report not only points to the usual problems for production to have dropped, but also points to the approaching Chinese New Year as, again, in China they have problems with the coronavirus again.

We’ve been playing with the RTX 3080 for a few days, the most powerful graphics card on the market right now, to bring you our analysis of this beast capable of playing TOP games at the highest quality with 4K, 60 fps and ultra-level ray tracing.

And since they don’t mess around with nonsense, the country is imposing very strict quarantines everywhere an outbreak starts, which will affect factories, manufacturing and shipments.

Experts say that in 2022 the semiconductor crisis will end, but, being in the middle of January and looking at the horizon, this date may seem a bit optimistic. I hope they are right.
