No chance for VfB Lübeck: top talent from SV Eichede moves to FC St. Pauli

Several professional clubs wanted to sign him: Mika Clausen. FC St. Pauli won the race for top talent from SV Eichede. The 19-year-old will move to Millerntor in the summer.

Change youth academy of FC St. Pauli

The midfielder will move to FC St. Pauli’s academy on July 1, 2022. Hamburger SV and SV Werder Bremen, among others, were also interested in the talent, who had moved up from the U19s to the Eicheder men’s division before the season. VfB Lübeck was quickly out of the running. The youngster from Börnsen was accepted by the cult club, where he signed a two-year contract until 2024. U23 coach Joachim Philipkowski had Clausen, who was discovered by chief scout and squad planner Niclas Warsteit, moved from SV Nettelnburg-Allermöhe to Eichede in 2019 and has so far played 13 games in the Oberliga for the league team, in the games against FC Dornbreite and VfB Lübeck II observed. In contrast to other professional clubs, St. Pauli did not have a trial session.

“At SV Eichede I had the opportunity to develop myself in many areas. I had a very nice time in the U19s, during which I was very well prepared for the start in the men’s division. I would like to thank the club for the professional handling of the inquiries and I am now fully concentrating on playing a successful second series, ”says Clausen, who was hired by former Bad Schwartauer professional Michael Koch (formerly VfB Lübeck, among others) from the K&K agency Sports management is advised and was missing in the first test match in the winter preparations last Saturday at Holstein Kiel II (0:7) due to a slight pubic infection.

Farewell to regional league promotion?

“We congratulate Mika very much on this step. He has proven his qualities in all teams and has constantly developed. Above all, however, he is an absolutely reasonable boy who has always behaved impeccably and has mastered the last few weeks in a professional manner. We wish him every success on his further path,” says training manager Thomas Runge in a press release from SV Eichede. Clausen would like to say goodbye with promotion to the regional league.
