Destiny 2: The optimal preparation for Witch Queen begins now – this is how you quickly level the new artifact
It’s only about a month until Destiny 2 releases its next expansion, The Witch Queen, and you get a new seasonal artifact with interesting mods. So that you can level up quickly at the start, MeinMMO tells you which bounties you should save for the new DLC and what artifact mods you can expect in Witch-Queen.
So close to the start of a new expansion, the weekly increase in power level is no longer necessary. Bungie is expected to give all Guardians a power level boost. So if you were still planning to farm top loot or increase your artifact power in Season 15: save it.
Here’s what you should focus on now: Our recommendation in the last few weeks leading up to Witch Queen’s release is to focus more on the new Artifact and Season Pass. At least a lot is already known about the artifact from Season 16.
- Each experience point counts towards unlocking the mods in the seasonal artifact
- If you want to quickly use all 25 artifact mods in Witch Queen, you need a lot of XP
- Some of the new Witch Queen champion mods have already been released, so get ready for those as well
Of course, you don’t know exactly what Bungie is planning in Season 16 and what changes will come into play with Witch Queen. The bounty system was already adjusted for Beyond Light to prevent particularly active players from being able to “pre-level” quickly.
To a certain extent, however, it is still possible to make preparations in Season 15 and “reserve” experience points. A player in reddit shows how much it is worth it.
This is the maximum amount of XP you can get for Witch-Queen: The player BYF9 has put a lot of effort into calculating for the Destiny 2 community how much EP you can take with you into the new Season 16 and thus the expansion “The Witch Queen”.
According to his overview, they are full 1.6 million experience points, which is approximately 26 ranks of the Season Pass.
In order to achieve this, 26 weekly and 27 daily bounties per character must be completed and saved for Witch Queen. You’ll also need a few weeks of preparation, as not every bounty, like the Clan and Iron Banner bounties, is always available to you.

Here’s what you need to keep in mind if you want to use bounties:
- Don’t turn in bounties until you get the seasonal artifact in Season 16
- Don’t fill up all the slots because you still need space for the new Witch Queen quests
- Prioritized TDaily bounties that don’t lead to powerful rewards
- Bounties from locations that disappear with the launch of the DLC will probably no longer provide any benefit – so don’t waste time on this
- If Bungie changes something, you might end up doing it for nothing. Completed bounties could then simply disappear from your inventory at the start of the DLC.
Also get the best weapons for Season 16
An equally good recommendation is to secure the best weapons in the current season 15. With the new expansion, some weapons will no longer be available that you might be able to use against champions in the coming Season 16.
Bungie has already revealed a lot about the upcoming champions mods. So you can now equip your arsenal accordingly.
These weapons are strong against champions in Season 16: Also in Witch Queen the guardians compete against champions again. Various weapon mods are then available to them via the Artifact of Season 16:
- Scout Rifles and Bows are strong against Anti-Barrier Champions
- The new weapon Glaive will be able to stop Unstoppable champions
- Disrupt ÜberCharge champions with auto rifles and submachine guns
Especially with the automatic rifles, “Chromatin Rush” is favored by some players. The weapon entered the battlefield with Season of the Splicer and is a fast-firing 720 auto rifle with a large clip.
It is considered to be one of the best PvE automatic rifles in the game with the perks “Get On” and “Rage”. However, it is unclear whether it can still be played after the release of Witch Queen.
