What is the new DLDS resolution technology and how can it be beneficial for us, know

DLDSR Technology Use: Dynamic Super Resolution or DSR is a technology developed by Nvidia that can deliver 4K-quality graphics even on your HD screen. So, if your graphics card is capable of running games at 4K, but you have a 1440p monitor, you can use this technique to get a better view.

If the game supports 4K, this technology renders that game at a more detailed resolution and again reduces the result to the resolution that your monitor supports. This helps in getting sharp images but can cause performance degradation as you will be asking your GPU to do more work.

Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution (DLDSR) This technology has been around for a long time and the company has now developed an even better version of the same technology that they incorporate into their new drivers. The company claims that users can use this technology to make ‘most games’ appear faster, by basically running them at a higher resolution than the monitor. This new technology is called Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution or DLDSR.

What is DLDSR? (What is DLDSR?)

The technology uses the concept of DSR and combines AI which works to enhance the visuals. The company also claims that this technology will not increase the native resolution too much to achieve better performance, yet users will get an improvement in image quality. This means that four times the picture quality that DSLR will give, 2.25 times the photo quality produced by DLDSR will be the same.

However, these results are just Nvidia’s claims and the company has yet to deliver one of the best scenarios. It is possible for users to get different FPS results in different games, depending on the setting in which they are running DLDSR. Given the extensive game support, users will be able to use it in one of their favorite old titles, but users will still need an Nvidia RTX graphics card to use it.

Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS)

Nvidia has previously used deep learning to improve performance and photo quality. The company also received a lot of praise for its Deep Learning Super Sampling or DLSS system. It is a machine-learning and spatial image upscaling technology that uses information from the previous frame to produce the current frame to reduce the workload of the GPU. This technique is limited to select titles such as God of War and is used in very few games.

Rival Technology

Nvidia’s competitor AMD has also announced its technology to improve graphics and performance in many games. The name AMD uses for its technology is Radeon Super Resolution. It doesn’t actually use the same technology as DLSS or DLDSR, but is aimed at the same target. AMD has its own technology called Virtual Super Resolution.

To use Nvidia’s DLDSR, users will need to update to the new driver and open the Nvidia Control Panel app. After that go to Manage 3D Settings and click on DSR. Then choose one of the DL scaling options from the drop-down menu.
