Everything you need to know about SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith in 2 minutes

Story und Flashpoint von Legacy of the Sith

What is the story about? Players can look forward to a continuation of the story from Onslaught. So it goes with the expansion on Manaan, a sea planet. The Sith Empire is trying to get hold of the Kolto deposits and is occupying the planet to do so.

The story unfolds slightly differently depending on whether you represent the Republic or the Empire. After completing the story you will unlock a new base of operations and daily tasks.

Although Manaan is a water planet, all activities will take place on land. There will still be no swimming mechanics in SWTOR.

What happens in Flashpoint? The new Flashpoint “Ruins of a Sith Fortress” continues the story of Darth Malgus. It is rumored to be hunting ancient relics on the planet Elom. That’s where the journey takes you.

Flashpoints are like SWTOR’s dungeons. In the story, they can be played alone, but there are harder modes where you are then dependent on other players.

SWTOR Manaan
There’s a lot of water on Manaan… and more rain.

Which characters are in the story? In the story content, you should meet some familiar faces from previous updates and expansions, including

  • Tau Idair
  • Major Anri
  • Lana Beniko

Combat styles for classes and changes to the loot system

What’s up with the fighting styles? The biggest change in Legacy of the Sith relates to the classes. They get the so-called fighting styles. This means that you decide on a path at the beginning – Tech or Sith – and then you can freely choose between the fighting styles (quasi the old classes):

  • This gives troopers access to all sorts of weapons, such as sniper rifles, which was not the case before.
  • All Jedi Knights, in turn, have access to combat styles such as Guardian, Guardian, Scholar, or Shadow over the course of the game.
  • Sith players can choose between Juggernaut, Marauder, Warlock, or Assassin combat styles.

This should also allow your gameplay to no longer be tied to a class story.

A trooper will now have access to all tech classes.

What are these loot changes? Another big innovation in Legacy of the Sith concerns the loot. In the future, it should no longer depend on chance:

  • You should no longer get new equipment via drops, but via quests, weekly missions, the group finder or directly via PvP.
  • In the future, bosses will drop a currency that you can use to buy new equipment.
  • Fame and random drops, on the other hand, are to be removed with patch 7.0.
  • However, there will still be random rewards and vanity items as random drops.

Operation R-4 Anomalie mit Patch 7.1

Operations are sort of like raids in SWTOR. They are more difficult to master and require groups of 8 or 16 players. The new operation in Legacy of the Sith is called R-4 Anomaly and is scheduled to appear with Patch 7.1. The difficult master mode is planned to be released in the course of 2022.

The story revolves around a seedy Sith cult collecting technology and wanting to use it to build a horrific weapon.

This must be prevented, regardless of whether you play on the side of the Empire or the Republic.

SWTOR Anomaly
Creepy places like this Opeartion should also be part of Legacy of the Sith.

Galactic Season 2: Shadows of the Underworld

Along with the new expansion, the second season in SWTOR should also start. This will yield some cosmetic rewards related to the Shadow Syndicate. Also included is a companion from the Duros people.

The seasons themselves were introduced with patch 6.3 in March 2021 and were actually really well received. There are 100 reward tiers in total and you can complete them by completing daily and weekly challenges.

If you have a subscription, the pass will be activated automatically, so you have no additional costs. In addition, you can catch up with the “average” with in-game currency if you start the pass later.

PvP, further improvements and post-release plans

What’s new for PvP? So far, no adjustments for PvP have been announced.

What minor updates are there? Legacy of the Sith will make some small adjustments, including:

  • A new character creation
  • Adjustments to the UI and inventory to modernize the UI
  • Conquests now give fewer credits
  • Uncompleted daily and weekly quests will disappear when the reset is due

What’s next after the release? The developers are planning new story updates, further adjustments to the UI, further seasons and new flashpoints for the time after Legacy of the Sith.

In general, there will be a few events throughout the year to celebrate SWTOR’s 10th birthday. The developers also revealed that there is a plan for at least 10 more years.
