GTA: The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition could have been a real nostalgia feast for fans. Instead, we experienced a disastrous game launch that eclipsed pretty much all other screwed-up releases in 2021. According to Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, it was just “a glitch” and it has now been fixed. So everything is no longer a problem and totally great. Financially it was a success anyway. Please move on, there is nothing to see here.

Problem solved: GTA publisher Take-Two is happy with the GTA Trilogy

That’s what it’s about: GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was a technical disaster at launch and was full of bugs. On the switch, the games were in such a bad state that we had to issue an explicit purchase warning in the test. There was criticism elsewhere too, for example the remasters were listed among the 10 worst games of 2021 by Metacritic.

The trailer actually looked pretty good:

Problem solved, says Take-Two: In an interview with CNBCs Squawk on the Street the CEO of the GTA publisher is asked, among other things, about the catastrophic launch of GTA The Trilogy and whether it could be to blame for the falling share prices. But the Take Two boss is very satisfied and explains that everything went great for the company.

“We had a glitch at the beginning, but that glitch has been fixed. And the title has just done great for the company, so we’re very pleased.”

Fans are disappointed: There were various patches and bug fixes for the GTA Definitive Edition, but most players would vehemently disagree with the publisher’s CEO. Even after months all the problems with the remaster trilogy are still not fixed. Accordingly, they accumulate Reddit and Co disappointed comments and lists of difficulties that have not yet been resolved.

The target group is important: Of course, it’s important to remember that Take 2 CEO Strauss Zelnick isn’t speaking to a gaming publication or fans of the game. This is an interview with stock exchange and financial specialists, so completely different things are in the foreground here, such as the planned Zynga takeover deal. And from a financial standpoint, the GTA Trilogy debacle has obviously paid off for Take Two despite everything.

How do you see that, what do you say to the statement? What else bothers you about the remaster trilogy?
