When will Lild’s cheap “Thermomix” be on sale again after the historic ruling?

As soon as you have been attentive to the news, you will know that at the end of 2020 Vorwerk, the company that manufactures the Thermomix, denounced the Lidl supermarket chain in Spain for allegedly violating one of its patents in the manufacture of the kitchen robot Monsieur Cuisine Connect.

This began a process that ended in January 2021 when a Barcelona court forced all Monsieur Cuisine Connect kitchen robots to be withdrawn from the market, for an infringement of Thermomix patents.

The complaint came because Vorwerk claimed that the Monsieur Cuisine Connect robot violated a patent for the food weighing system integrated in the robot’s cup, which allowed him to weigh the food with the device in operation.

This mechanism, being very specific and previously patented by VorwekHe allowed the court to agree with him.

But all that has now changed, since apparently and after a year of litigation, the magistrates have reviewed said sentence of the Mercantile Judge in Barcelona to agree with Lidl in this case. That is, the machine does not infringe Vorwerk’s patent.

In this way, and just one year later, Lidl sees how it can put up for sale a robot that, while it could be sold, swept all the supermarkets where it was present.

Curiously, In Europe, the German company has continued to be able to sell the Monsieur Cuisine Connect, since the lawsuit was only filed in Spain, hence Lidl has no problem restocking its supermarkets in our country.

As you well know, what Lidl Spain did was sell, while the sentence was being resolved, the Monsieur Cuisine Plus model, which was very similar to the Connect model but with fewer features: worse screen, less connectivity, no weighing system in operation, etc.

But then what is expected to happen from now on? As the experts explain, now at Lidl they can bring the Monsieur Cuisine Connect model back to our country to put it up for sale. But it is not known how long it will take the supermarket to fill the shelves.

In this situation, for all those who are considering buying a kitchen robot, The smartest thing from the quality / price point of view is to wait for you at Monsier Cuisine Connect, since it is the closest thing to a Thermomix but without costing the four digits.

You have to remember that the Monsier Cuisine Connect was sold for 359 euros when it was still on sale, so if Lidl maintains that price on its return, we are talking about a robot that costs almost a third of a Thermomix offering a very similar result.
