Twitch Streamer Desperate – Accidentally bans and deletes all his fans

On the live streaming platform Twitch, almost every streamer works towards becoming better known and getting more viewers. Of course, this also includes numbers such as followers and subscribers. Twitch streamer Evan_Gao now made a huge fail and deleted over 1 year of his work within a few seconds.

How followers and subscriptions work on Twitch: Followers and subscribers behave differently on Twitch than on the video platform YouTube. While you can subscribe to someone for free on YouTube to see their activity, you need to follow someone on Twitch to see when that streamer goes live.

Subscriptions are paid on Twitch and start at 3.99 euros per month. However, a subscription doesn’t give you an indication of whether a person is going live or not.

Followers on Twitch are a small indication of how well-known a person is – of course, a streamer still wants to grow in this area as well, as it suggests interest from a potential long-time viewer.

What are follower bots? Some people confront streamers with follower bots for fun. For money, you can send a certain number of fictitious Twitch accounts to the streamer, who then follow him. However, this is forbidden and in the worst case can lead to a ban from Twitch.

Some streamers therefore play it safe and use a CommanderRoot tool to quickly delete these fictitious Twitch accounts from follower bots (via Twitch-Tools). You can set exact filters there, in which period and which users you want to remove from the follower list.

To his chagrin, the streamer Evan_Gao made a small mistake.

When the streamer was attacked by a follower bot, he didn’t hesitate and happily wandered to CommanderRoot’s tool. “Bye, bots, you’re not cool, you’re cringe,” he said goodbye, waving happily at the camera, and deleted and banned the supposed bots.

The failure was only noticed 40 minutes later: He not only deleted and banned the bots, but also his real, almost 7000 followers.

Evan_Gao couldn’t believe his buddy at first: “Are you kidding me?” the streamer only replied when he slowly realized his mistake. “Is there a way to undo this?” Evan_Gao asked desperately.

Later, the streamer joked that he could post the accident on reddit right away, that would be a perfect fail.

It is questionable whether he really takes it so lightly, he just said “then I have to work it back.” On his Twitch channel, however, this headline is currently in Capslock: “I deleted all my followers, I’m desperate – Follow by follow, please.”

In January 2021, the Twitch streamer started with 12 followers and was able to build up a following of almost 7000 people by January 2022. Whether he can win them all back remains to be seen. Evan_Gao currently has around 500 followers, but they’re still growing every minute.
