Timmendorf wins the regional league leader in the Harz Mountains

“It was an extraordinarily good job that the boys did there,” said Michael Pohl, coach of the ice hockey regional league team CE Timmendorf, after the 2:3 victory after extra time at table leaders Harzer Falken in Braunlage. Because for the Beach Devils from the Baltic Sea it was the first game of the year after a three-week forced break due to several corona cases in the team.

“We really didn’t expect that, especially since we had almost no preparation,” says Pohl. “But the lads played in an extremely disciplined manner.” And they were rewarded with Marco Meyer’s winning goal (65th minute). Previously, Kenneth Schnabel (5th) and Matt Watson (35th) scored for the CET.

But the Ostholsteiner coach also knows that on Sunday (January 23, 7 p.m.) in the home game against the Salzgitter Icefighters, the next tough challenge awaits the Ostholsteiners. “Salzgitter has a good flow at the moment. It’s going to be a really tough game because the boys were already exhausted when they got home at four in the morning after winning in Braunlage,” says the CET coach.

Timmendorf expects a strong away team from Salzgitter

The Icefighters have been extremely strong recently, especially away from home, winning in Adendorf (7-2) and at HSV (10-2). Salzgitter hasn’t been able to get anything against Timmendorf so far. The two previous games were won by the CET (4:3 in Salzgitter, 5:2 in Timmendorf). And success number three should follow on Sunday.
