According to the report, the company management has formed this special wing only recently. This unit has been named as Google Lab. This unit has a presence for almost a decade. Google Labs works on new projects brought by the company. Although this new unit is different from the old Google Lab. It will not be public like the previous lab but will work like an internal group. The report states that the unit will focus on ‘blockchain and other next-gen distributed computing and data storage technologies’. Engineering Vice President for Google Shivakumar Venkataraman has been given the responsibility of ‘Founding Leader’ of this unit.
