Players show first gameplay: This is what the new MMO for Avatar looks like
Disney and Tencent had jointly announced a new avatar MMORPG for iOS and Android, but so far there has been little to see. Numerous YouTubers have now shared the first gameplay insights into the game.
What kind of game is this? Avatar: Reckoning has been announced as a new “MMO RPG Shooter” for mobile devices, which will offer both single and multiplayer elements. So far, however, there have not been many more official details.
Now, however, some players have shown a test version of what you can expect from the game.
Getting into the game is a bit similar to the movie that started the whole franchise: you come to the planet Pandora as part of a human military unit. There you take on an “avatar” – a kind of shell that corresponds to the Na’vi, the blue inhabitants of the planet.

What’s in Avatar: Reckoning for iOS and Android?
At the start you go through a lengthy introduction that teaches you the basic mechanics of the game. This takes place mainly on the military base, but it doesn’t take too long until you meet the first Na’vi and, a little later, other comrades-in-arms.

- Climbing passages are also part of the challenges
- In the character editor you can customize your own avatar
- You go through flight passages and can control mechs
- The game uses touch controls with buttons for weapons, jumps and more
You can also go on missions with other players. Enemies include the numerous creatures that you can meet on the planet Pandora.
Boss fights also seem to be the order of the day – in the gameplay video of “VinIsHere”, for example, fights against beings like the “Hammerhead Titanothere” or the “Viperwolf Leader” can be seen.
What else is known about the game? There is still very little information about the game. What is certain is that so far it will be a purely mobile experience based on Unreal Engine 4. On the PC, it should only be playable via detours such as “Google Play Games”, if at all.
Avatar: Reckoning will bring multiplayer elements in PvP and PvE, but it is also still uncertain when you can play them: So far only “2022” has been given as the release date, there is no more detailed period yet.
However, “Reckoning” is not the only place where you will soon meet the blue aliens again. Among other things, the film sequel “Avatar 2” has been announced for December 16, 2022.
The new game “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” was also announced as part of Ubisoft Forward 2021. This is an action-adventure whose trailer with great visuals created excitement among the fans.
