Sea of Thieves is set to have its biggest year yet in 2022, with the event imminent
Sea of Thieves is one of those games that seemed a bit underwhelming when it was first released, but has since grown into a substantial, comprehensive and very enjoyable package. Apparently this will continue in 2022: developer studio Rare promises the biggest year of Sea of Thieves so far and announces a preview event that will take place this week.
Sea of Thieves: In 2022 there will probably be many big innovations, preview event this week
That’s what it’s about: Sea of Thieves is a very special game. No other title manages to create such a convincing pirate atmosphere – and conjure up such a convincing sea on your screen. The co-op aspect also comes into its own here: you can sail the wild sea alone, but it only gets really cool with a few other sailors. Here you can find our GamePro test from 2018.

A lot has happened since release: As the trailer above these lines shows, new content has been coming into play regularly for years and delighting fans with meaningful expansions, new features, treasures and areas to explore.
This should not be the end of it in 2022, quite the opposite. Apparently, Rare and Microsoft are only really turning things up now.

Preview event this week: The developer studio has not yet revealed exactly what will make 2022 Sea of Thieves’ biggest year to date. But that too will soon change: the day after tomorrow, on January 27th, there will be a big preview event. It is intended to reveal plans and new content for the co-op fun and there is apparently a whole boatload of both.

In the meantime, the fifth season in Sea of Thieves has already started and, among other things, it has brought the opportunity to finally be able to hide your own pirate treasures. In line with the launch of Halo Infinite, we were also able to staple the Master Chief to our ship as a figurehead and we’re already excited to see what else is in store for us. If you want to take a look, you can do so conveniently via Game Pass.
What are your wishes for new content for Sea of Thieves? What features do you think are still missing?
