The next three installments of ‘Call of Duty’ will be available on Xbox and PlayStation, according to Bloomberg

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision made many PlayStation users cringe. What about my ‘Call of Duty’, will they take it away from me? Well no: the players of the ‘Play’ can be calm.

According to Bloomberg, at Activision have committed to The next three installments of ‘Call of Duty’ come to both Xbox and PlayStation. It is important news that shows that at least for a while this franchise will not be exclusive to Xbox or PC after the giant corporate acquisition of Microsoft.

At the moment ‘Call of Duty’ will not be exclusive to Xbox and PC

Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft, had already anticipated that in Redmond they intended to “keep ‘Call of Duty’ on the PlayStation” and to respect existing agreements, and now it looks like that promise will be fulfilled.

The next games in the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise coming to the PlayStation will be a new installment of Infinity Ward’s ‘Modern Warfare’ in 2022, Treyarch’s upcoming ‘Call of Duty’ and a “planned new iteration” of that ‘battle royale’ version that is ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’.

Microsoft wants to be the Disney of the video game: the purchase of Activision is another step in the conquest of the sector with Game Pass

That promise from Activision and Microsoft might not be entirely significant: the deal between the two companies should close and that could take more than a year to happen: it’s expected to do so within Microsoft’s 2023 fiscal year, which ends on June 30 of that year.

If closed, yes, the future of the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise beyond those three titles remains to be seen: Microsoft has already made it clear that some of its next great titles – such as ‘Starfield’ – will only be available for Xbox and PC, but here there are many edges to polish and it will be interesting to see how events unfold.
