Trailer shows new MMO for Game of Thrones – relies on the Unreal Engine 5

The South Korean developer Netmarble is apparently working on a mobile MMO for Game of Thrones. A first teaser indicates what the implementation of the series on your smartphones could look like.

What kind of game is this? So far not much is known about the new game. In addition to the teaser, only a few pieces of information about the new mobile MMO for Game of Thrones have been published.

Netmarble works with the American TV provider HBO, which also implemented the series based on the books by George RR Martin.

According to Netmarble, the game will combine “the deep experience of a single player game” with the large-scale experience of a multiplayer title. Players could experience a previously unknown story in the world of Westeros while creating their very own story (via inven.co).

  • Westeros should act as an open world
  • You can get into conflicts between characters
  • Fights against white walkers should also be part of it

Although it is a mobile game, the game is supposed to have a strong look. It is being developed in the Unreal Engine 5 and special features such as constantly changing weather situations have already been announced.

The teaser shows a lot that fans of the series should be familiar with:

  • You can see the iconic wall built to the north to keep out beings like the White Walkers.
  • A dragon fights revenants and giants beyond the wall.
  • The Night King also appears at the end of the teaser. The whole thing looks quite similar to the frozen lake scene from Season 7.
  • The official music of the series can also be heard.

So the MMO could be set at the same time as the series, or at least reference the events of the series.

However, there is no further information, such as a release date, requirements or other details about the game. It seems to be still quite early in the development phase.

Who is Netmarble? Netmarble is mainly active in the mobile sector and has published games such as “The Seven Deadly Sins”, “Lineage 2 Revolution” and “Marvel Future Revolution”. The superhero game also relied on a well-known franchise, an open game world and good graphics.

With Game of Thrones, the next license is apparently being added. Incidentally, its creator, George RR Martin, was also involved in the new FromSoftware game Elden Ring. If you need new fantasy fodder and are not afraid of a hard level of difficulty, the Elden Ring should be just the thing for you.
