Tim Cook sees potential in the Metaverse
Apple will participate in the Metaverse with applications and devices!
Apple has evidence of its approach to the Metaverse concept, long before Mark Zuckerberg brought the term back and had all companies looking for a way to be part of this reality. But everyone wants to know what he will do now. So for the first quarter 2022 earnings call, Tim Cook was consulted on the idea of the Metaverse.
To answer Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty’s question, Cook said Apple sees “a lot of potential in this space” and they are investing in it, both in their current products and in those that are not on the market at the moment.
“Well, that’s a great question. We’re a company that’s in the innovation business. We’re always exploring new and emerging technologies and this is an area that’s very exciting to us. We have 14,000 ARKit apps on the App Store, which they provide incredible AR experiences for millions of people today. We see a lot of potential in this space and are investing accordingly.”
What Apple brings to the Metaverse
As understood so far, the Metaverse refers to a conceptual idea that people will use virtual reality headsets to work, attend events or socialize. And Apple has somehow gotten ahead of this reality, building on its experiences powering mainstream AR experiences since adding LiDAR to the iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro.
The company is also working on the development of your first augmented reality and virtual reality glasses, which although expected for this year, the most recent reports have suggested that it could be for 2023.
As is well known when it comes to Apple, their products and technology are developed many years before we even have a rumor about them, so we could take it for granted that we will see many of the company in the famous Metaverse.
