Pokémon GO launches Lunar New Year event tomorrow with new shiny and extra luck

The Lunar New Year event starts tomorrow, February 1st, 2022 in Pokémon GO. This brings you Shiny Leufeo for the first time. We’ll show you what you can expect in just under a week.

When is the Lunar New Year event running? The Lunar New Year in Pokémon GO begins Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time and runs through Monday, February 7, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. This gives you about a week to claim the event bonuses.

The event is primarily about luck, but also has something in store for trainers who are particularly on the hunt for shiny Pokémon.

Leufeo as the new Shiny and bonuses for teamwork

What bonuses does the Lunar New Year bring? Much revolves around the topic of “happiness” and cooperation can be rewarding.

  • On the one hand, you have an increased chance of lucky Pokémon if you trade with each other
  • Also, you’re more likely to become lucky buddies – so you can get a guaranteed lucky swap
  • There is an extra special exchange per day on top of that

So trading can be particularly worthwhile at the moment – but you shouldn’t underestimate trading in Pokémon GO outside of events either.

In addition, you get double Stardust for opening gifts. So sent neat packages to get some sent himself.

Neues Shiny: One of the most exciting spawns in the event is the Pokémon Leufeo, which you can catch as Shiny for the first time during Lunar New Year week. The little lion was not yet available as a dazzling variant.

What else spawns? The new Hisui Voltobal is still on the road, but not as a shiny one.

In addition, other Pokémon sneak through the wilderness, many of which you can meet as Shiny. But note: There is no bonus to the shiny rate, the shiny monsters are as rare as usual.
