Guy puts a $1,400 graphics card into a PC that might be able to blast a hole in Mars

Getting hold of an RTX 3080 graphics card is still pretty darn difficult. Hobbyist Mark Celica from “Mark’s Fabrication” got his hands on one – and used it in a PC that should be quite unique.

Who is tinkering there? A video has been posted on the NVIDIA GeForce YouTube channel showing the construction of a very special Doom-themed PC. Responsible for the design is Mark Celica from “Mark’s Fabrication”.

Celica has made crazy custom PCs in the past and in 2018 took second place with a custom PC in the “Cooler Master Case Mod World Series”, a kind of world championship for crazy, home-made PCs.

Since then, he says, he’s increasingly relied on handcrafted PCs – drawing inspiration from various aspects of the Doom series. Especially the armor and the weapons have done it to him.

So it’s fitting that his latest design also came directly from the game. Because Celica has built a PC that looks confusingly similar to the huge “BFG 10,000” gun from Doom Eternal.

What’s in the BFG-10000 PC?

This is in the cannon: Cecila explains that his PC is pretty special. For one, the cannon has a laser effect that is supposed to reflect the firing of the cannon. In addition, the case is able to tilt the gun up and down. This doesn’t get you any further in terms of gaming, but it looks cool.

But there is also a lot in the cannon in terms of performance: On the one hand, a GeForce RTX 3080 is installed, which is still difficult to get to this day. At the moment you have to pay at least around 1,400 euros if you want to secure the coveted graphics card (via Geizhals.de). There are other models that are even more expensive.

In addition, Cecila installed parts such as:

  • An Intel i7 10700K CPU
  • An ASRock Z490 motherboard
  • 16GB Zadak memory
  • Cooler Master for power supply and water cooling

What is that cannon? The BFG-10000 is a monstrously huge turret in Doom Eternal intended for planetary defense. However, in Eternal, the Doom Slayer uses the thing to blast a hole in Mars – although the character Samuel Hayder recently expressed concerns that you can’t just blast a hole in Mars!

This moment has become a bit of a meme for Doom fans and has been parodied in a variety of videos. Roughly here:

Turns out, blasting a hole in Mars is no problem for the Doom Slayer. The BFG 10000 RTX 3080 PC may have reminded some players of the Mars attack.

The PC should definitely be suitable for playing Doom. Only planetary damage will probably not be able to cause the thing. Hopefully.

Of course, the Doom Cannon PC isn’t the first PC to come with a crazy design. There are always examples like this. Here you will find 7 chic PC cases that are guaranteed to make you jealous.
