GTA 6 officially confirmed: Rockstar comments on the next part

For years there have been rumors about a new GTA part that will probably be called GTA 6. Rockstar itself has not given any hints or hints in this direction. But that has changed today.

Because as part of the announcement of the release date of the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions of GTA 5, Rockstar also announced that a new part of the Grand Theft Auto series is currently in the making. Specifically, it says in Rockstar Newswire:

We are very pleased to confirm that active development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.

Rockstar Newswire

That was it with the information about the next GTA. No release period, no specific name, no reference to the next bit of information. But at least the confirmation that the next GTA – whether with a “6” in the title or not – is being worked on. Basically, of course, this is something that we all assumed anyway.

Rockstar indicates great things: In the blog post, Rockstar also underlines its own claim of wanting to top what has already been delivered with the new project. So if GTA 5 is to be jumped as a hurdle, that naturally fuels expectations for the next GTA part – which are immense anyway.

What do we know about the next GTA?

Aside from the fact that it will actually come at some point, very little. In the last few years, there have been a number of rumors about the possible GTA 6, a lot has been interpreted and speculated about possible content, settings or release years. We summarized all the rumors and theories in our overview article:

GTA 5 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in March

It will probably take a while before a completely new GTA is released, but GTA 5 will soon be released again. The version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be released on March 15 and will include a significantly revised look with 4K resolution, HDR effects and other improvements. GTA Online is also making the leap to the current generation of consoles.

What do you think of Rockstar’s statement?
