Released at the launch of the PS5, Bugsnax was the first PS Plus game for Sony’s new console. However, the title is now shedding its Playstation Exclusive status and is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch as well. Just in time for the transformation into a multi-platform game, the large free expansion “Isle of Bigsnax” will be released.

When is Bugsnax coming to Xbox and Switch? It’s still this month. From the April 28th you can play Bugsnax on Microsoft and Nintendo consoles. The free DLC will be released on the same day. The game will also end up in Game Pass right after the Xbox launch (via Xbox Wire).

This is what awaits you in Bugsnax

But what kind of game is Bugsnax anyway? Well, at the beginning of the campaign, you end up on the island of Schleckum, where the eponymous Bugsnax – a mixture of bugs and food – are up to mischief. Sounds funny, but that’s how it is. You can find and catch over 100 types of strange beings. A surprisingly dark story unfolds.

You can read what Bugsnax has to offer in the GamePro review.

Role model Pokemon Snap: Even though you can catch the monsters, Bugsnax is more like Pokémon Snap than a regular Pokémon game. It’s not about training the beetles and letting them fight against each other. Instead, it’s all about the capture itself. Luring and capturing a Bugsnax requires solving a bit of a puzzle, as each creature has its own likes and dislikes.

In the Isle of Bigsnax update, you can explore a whole new island inhabited by giant Bugsnax. In addition to new monsters, NPCs with fresh orders and stories await you in the jungle setting. If you’ve already completed Bugsnax, that’s no problem, because the game will send you back to the point before the last mission (via Playstation.Blog).

The expansion also has a trailer:

As you explore the island, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with new gameplay mechanics, such as a Shrink Spice. Before you go, you have to start the adventure in Naschingen. Incidentally, the update gives you your own hut here, which you can embellish with decoration items. Last but not least, you can put hats on the captured Bugsnax, but you have to find them first.

Have you played Bugsnax yet, or are you getting it now for Xbox or Switch?
