Destiny 2: Apprentice’s Oath – How to complete Raid Challenge 4 “Loop Catalyst”

Destiny 2: Apprentice's Oath - How to complete Raid Challenge 4 "Loop Catalyst"

The last 4th challenge in the raid “Oath of the Apprentice” was in destiny 2 and the players could secure another extra loot box. MeinMMO explains what the “Loop Catalyst” challenge is and, above all, how you can best master the challenge.

What is a Raid Challenge? Each raid in Destiny 2 is a challenging group activity in itself and is part of the endgame. The players solve tricky puzzles together, overcome jump passages, and finally kill the final boss. This promises prestigious weapons and armor that can only be found there.

For those who are not satisfied with this already decent challenge, they can face a so-called challenge in a raid every week. While they still include the classic raid mechanics, they also limit certain playstyles. Depending on which challenge is currently active, you often have to adjust your playing style a bit in order to master it.

All challenges usually take place in a specific raid encounter or phase. There are a total of four such encounters in the raid “Oath of the Apprentice” – the jump passages are usually left out in the challenges. They rotate every week, but not in random order.

How to complete the “Loop Catalyst” challenge

This is the fourth encounter at the final boss: If you intend to play the “Loop Catalyst” raid challenge, then your goal is the fourth phase in the “Student’s Oath” raid, i.e. with Rhulk, the final boss of the raid.

This used to require you to pick up special bounties from Hawthorne, but that has changed. The challenge is automatically active when the raid starts. When you start the raid, you will see information about which challenge is currently active at the bottom left. In addition, MeinMMO will also inform you about this in the Destiny 2 Weekly Resets in the future.

This is how the challenge succeeds: Now, to complete the Loop Catalyst challenge, your team must maintain at least one stack of the Siphoning Power buff before the damage phase on Rhulk.

From that point of view, it’s not really a big challenge at first, since it’s already part of the usual strategy for most teams. The challenge is fairly easy to complete even in a fireteam of 3, as long as the Warden distributing the buff simply maintains it at all times.

If it still fails, you will get the message “Challenge Failed”. Then, to try again, you can all die and the encounter will restart.

In this video you can see the completion of the “Loop Catalyst” challenge and the Destiny 2 player IPhiniX gives you a few more tips:

This is how you secure the 4th challenge in the Raid Oath of the Student

Tips for the challenge

Even if that sounds easy, we still have a few tips for you. You should be careful, especially when sharing the buff, because the final boss likes to choose to focus his gaze on the middle while you’re standing on the plate.

Your raid team should also keep an eye on the buff timer and try not to die at all times once you have received your “Sucking Power”. This will be especially important in the first part of the encounter, where you could sometimes need longer than the 45 second duration of the buff.

However, as soon as the final boss, Rhulk, begins to climb the stairs, you can follow through with your normal final boss strategy. Basically, that’s all you need to pay attention to, so it can be said that Loop Catalyst is among the easiest raid challenges in Apprentice’s Oath.

What’s the reward? If you have successfully mastered the challenge, there is bonus loot and it’s worth it. In addition to the standard chest at the end of the encounter, another chest will appear after a short time. This is also top-of-the-line equipment. So you should always try to take the challenges with you in the raid.

In Destiny 2 you can also influence the desired loot a bit, because each encounter offers a very special loot.

With the end boss Rhulk, after a successful run, you have the chance of the raid exotic “peer pressure”, an exotic pulse rifle.

In addition, you can also drop these weapons and armor in the last encounter:

  • Insidious Pulse Rifle, Lubraes Ruin Glaive, and Forbearance Grenade Launcher
  • Armor: Resonance Fury Helm, Resonance Fury Armguards, and the Resonance Fury Sign.

Do you like such a challenge to get extra loot? Or is the normal run enough for you? If you’ve already completed the Loop Catalyst challenge, we’d love for you to share your experiences and let us know how difficult you found this challenge in the comments.
