If you start ESO now, you will get more content for free than ever before
The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) kicks off June with the latest Chapter, High Isle. And if you log in now, you get a lot of content for free. Including the very first chapter addon and goodies for the 8th anniversary of the online role-playing game.
What is ESO and who is it for? The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is a complex MMORPG set in the world of the popular Elder Scrolls series (Skyrim, Oblivion, etc.). However, the events in ESO take place many centuries before the previous Elder Scrolls games.
You create a hero from the usual Elder Scrolls selection of races and then begin your career as an adventurer. You’ll explore the vast, open expanses of the world of Tamriel unrivaled in any game in the series.
In particular, regions such as the land of Elsweyr or the areas of the lizard-like Argonians can be seen in full detail for the first time in ESO.
On the other hand, if you like well-known elements, you will find many well-known locations and content in regions such as the Gold Coast (Oblivion) or Skyrim (Skyrim).

What are you getting for free right now? There are currently several events running in ESO that are particularly exciting for newcomers and returners:

Play ESO for free and get the first chapter
What is the “FreePlay Event”? ESO is not a free game, it is a one-time purchase. Then you can play it as long as you want. Further DLCs and chapters cost extra, there is also an optional subscription, which then includes a large part of the content that has been released so far.
This means that you get the 4 classes from the base game, plus the Warden class from Morrowind and access to the chapter areas and their quests.
Your game progress will not be deleted after the event. So if you decide to buy the game after all, you can go ahead and get 500 crowns (the game’s premium currency) to spend in the cash shop (crown shop). There’s costumes or mounts, among other things.
During the FreePlay event, the ESO Standard Edition is also up to 70% off and ESO with the previous Blackwood Chapter up to 67% off in the shop! The deal is valid until April 27th and 26th respectively on Stadia and Xbox.
But if you want to get a taste of the game first, you have until April 26, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. to do so. Because during this period the “Free-Play-Event” takes place and you can play the complete base game as well as the first major chapter expansion Morrowind completely free of charge and without restrictions.
What’s so great about Morrowind? Morrowind was the first ESO Chapter DLC and was very successful. Since then, five more such expansions have appeared. In Morrowind we went to the province of the same name of the dark elves.
Anyone familiar with the RPG of the same name from 2002 will feel at home as soon as their character arrives at Seyda Neen’s dock.
Morrowind lets you experience a whole new story in ESO. You explore the wonderfully bizarre and beautiful island of Vvardenfell and its quirky inhabitants.
You help the living god Vivec with a delicate problem and you can also play the then newly added class of the keeper. It’s sort of a mix of druid and ranger who can summon all sorts of beasts.
Anniversary and new story for 2022
What’s up with the celebrations? In addition to the free version of ESO and the free Morrowind Chapter, ESO is hosting a special anniversary event right now. Because ESO is turning 8 years old and is celebrating with an in-game party.
You have until April 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. to join the celebration and get yourself an epic cake as a big gift. It gives you bonuses to experience points and is simply delicious.

There are also event quests where you can earn various goodies, including a mechanical spider, skins for your clothes, and even the chance to get fragments of a special mount. You can find out everything there is to get in Events 2022 here.
What else is coming to ESO this year? As every year since the release of Morrowind, there will be a new chapter in 2022. It’s all about “Legacy of the Bretons,” and coming June 6th (June 21st for Xbox and PlayStation) is ESO’s newest chapter, High Isle.
In it you will explore the mysterious islands to the west of Tamriel and uncover treacherous intrigues among the Breton nobility. The prologue is already available and you can still jump into the new adventure during the free play time of the FeePlay event.
If you then want to buy ESO, you can start right away with the new chapter and simply continue playing the story.
There will also be more dungeons and another addition to the game area later in the year. So now more than ever, it’s worth getting into ESO and sticking with it.
