Star Wars: New Star Wars game from Uncharted creator Amy Hennig

Star Wars (Sonstiges) von Lucas Arts / Disney

Amy Hennig, known for her formative contributions to Legacy of Kain, Jak and Daxter and Uncharted, is working on a new Star Wars title that will be a big action-adventure with a story focus.

The news was on the played out as news on the official Star Wars portal and, of course, garnished with the usual phrases: Hennig himself recalls how “watching Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain and indelibly shaped my creative future.” Their current cooperation partner on the game, Lucasfilm Games, is also euphoric. Vice President Douglas Reilly: “We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Amy again. (…) Her vision of creating engaging interactive entertainment makes this collaboration so exciting. Working hard with her team of experienced and talented developers, we are excited I look forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time comes.”

A good keyword: the little that we know so far is very welcome to become more. Apart from the fact that it will be an action-adventure with a focus on the plot and that one tells its own story, Hennig and her team still owe us pretty much everything: platform, date, trailer, pictures, etc.

Of course, it’s exciting that Amy Hennig has been trying to create a Star Wars game for almost ten years: in 2014 she joined EA’s Visceral studio, in 2015 we reported the first rumors about a Star Wars title. News of a postponement and the closure of Visceral and the possible consequences for Hennig’s Star Wars title followed. Finally, there were concrete descriptions of how badly the project had gotten into trouble. In 2018, Hennig finally turned his back on EA in order to start again at Skydance Media in 2019. And this is exactly where she is still sitting and is now allowed to work on her vision of a Star Wars adventure in cooperation with the newly installed label Lucasfilm Games.
