Players play through €10 DLC for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands in 20 minutes – “Really disappointed”

The first DLC for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has been released. But as soon as some players had started the DLC, they were already through. This is not going down well with the community.

This is the DLC: Since Thursday evening you can play the content from the DLC “Coiled Captors” in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The DLC costs €9.99 on both consoles and PC – or is included as one of four content drops in the game’s €30 Season Pass.

With the update of April 21, 2022, the DLC was then also made accessible. But while the update itself gets a lot of praise thanks to many improvements and fixes, the response to the first DLC is quite cold.

Many players had apparently simply expected more.

Short Challenge lags behind good Borderlands experiences

What’s in the DLC? Basically, the DLC delivers what was announced: a challenge in which players have to fight their way through several rooms in order to face the boss “Chums” at the end. As a reward, there is then loot from the new wheel of fortune.

Once you have done that, the content will also be made available in the Chaos Chambers. Then you can challenge them again and again. In addition, Chums should become stronger and stronger in the coming weeks: A new form of the boss will be unlocked every week, up to his fourth, final form.

That’s the problem: Many players are surprised at how short the DLC actually is. Disappointment is spreading in the Wonderlands subreddit: There players speak of playing times in the range of 20 minutes to have completed the DLC. The actual run through the chambers and the fight against the boss can be even shorter: On YouTube, players even managed it in under 10 minutes.

Especially in comparison with the popular and quite extensive story DLCs from Borderlands 3, players see “Coiled Captors” as significantly weaker.

Although these DLCs cost 15 euros, from the point of view of the players in Borderlands 3 there were even free events such as Bloody Harvest or the difficult takedowns that would overshadow the new Wonderlands DLC.

The current top post in the subreddit with over 950 upvotes and more than 460 comments (as of April 22, 2022) is also critical of the DLC: “This is just a chaos chamber, but with additional steps, otherwise there are no new opponents or environments,” writes user “FabledTurtle” – and gets a lot of encouragement in the comments (via reddit).

• “Ironic that the DLC for the game, based on one of the best DLCs of all time, turns out to be so weak,” writes one user (via reddit). The Wonderlands concept is based on a popular Borderlands 2 DLC.
• “This was supposed to be an event and not a Season Pass DLC. Maybe it would be worth it if there were 3 of these bosses and more new loot. I really hope we get a story DLC,” another user wrote (via reddit).
• “I have to say I’m really disappointed with the DLC. It’s basically the Chamber of Chaos with a slight difference. I was hoping for a little more story, but it’s just another repeatable set of rooms. I hope the other DLCs are better than this one,” one user wrote (via reddit).
• “It’s good that it’s not just me. I was so excited about that. Beat it in 10 minutes then got confused where the rest of the DLC is. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement” (via reddit).

What exactly will be in the upcoming DLCs of the Season Pass is not yet entirely clear – however, they will also bring further “Mirrors of Mystery” with them, behind which there are challenges. There will also be a seventh class in the fourth DLC.

It also remains to be seen how the echo of the DLC could change in the coming weeks – as the boss progresses through his new forms.
