God of War Ragnarök: Cory Barlog might have secretly revealed the release
God of War 2: Ragnarok is due out later this year. The only question is when, exactly. Perhaps Cory Barlog has already provided an answer to this, albeit very indirectly and disguised as a joke. At least that’s what some fans believe, who noticed something in common with the release of the first part a few years ago. Back then, game director Cory Barlog made a joke involving the number 3, and three months later the game was released. Now he put the exact same joke in an announcement…
God of War 2: Ragnarok – That’s why fans now think they know the release date
Cory Barlog popular to joke: In January 2018, then-God of War game director Cory Barlog directly referred to an old commercial and stated that Sony Santa Monica was “tightening up the graphics on level three”. Three months later, God of War was released.
Exactly the same joke: In 2022 everyone is eagerly awaiting the sequel God of War 2: Ragnarök and Cory Barlog makes the exact same joke in his announcement video. Again, he mentions the team is busy tightening the graphics in level three. Which is now interpreted in such a way that we are maybe only three months away from the release.

This video is about: The God of War Ragnarök announcement video looks almost like a postponement announcement at first glance, but it’s just a reminder that the people behind the game are hard-working and true perfectionists:

If you only understand train station: The “tightening up the graphics on level 3” meme is about an age-old commercial that was supposed to encourage people to become playtesters. However, even then, what was shown must have differed massively from what everyday work as a QA tester actually looks like. But the whole thing is definitely worth seeing:

Don’t rejoice too soon! Of course, while Cory Barlog may be consciously reinstating this quip to throw a breadcrumb hint, there’s just as much chance that he just enjoys making the quip (or Half Life 3 confirmed, who knows). After all, this is a relatively well-known meme. For better or worse, we have no choice but to wait.
Do you think there is more to it than just the joke? When do you think God of War 2 could be released?
