Riot Games has temporarily disabled the supporter “Bard” in all modes in League of Legends. The Walking Protector could crash the entire game when interacting with other heroes’ skills. Riot Games went to extremes and disabled the champ in all modes worldwide.

Here’s what Riot Games did: Developers Riot Games have disabled the support champion “Bard” in all game modes. So Bard can neither be played in ranked nor in the popular “ARAM” mode.

The reason given is that there are “in-game problems”. The deactivation took place on Friday, April 22nd.

Why was it deactivated? A YouTube video explains the problem:

  • There seems to be a problem when Bard’s E ability hits a structure activated by abilities like Anivia’s W or Trundle’s E
  • If Bard exits a structure created by Anivia or Trundle with his E then the game will crash for all players. It freezes and then gets deleted
  • Apparently, the error doesn’t always occur, but it does occur in enough cases to justify disabling Bard

In principle, you could end a game in this way by causing it to crash if the match didn’t go as planned. YouTuber Vandiril calls the problem “literally game-breaking”:

What’s next? Riot Games says they will bring Bard back into the game after finding a fix for the gamebreaking bug.

At the moment there is no timeline as to when Bard will be playable again in LoL.
