This is how you can use VRR on the PS5
When the VRR patch is rolled out in the coming days, you will find a new option in your PS5 settings under “Video Output”. VRR is set to automatic by default – this will enable the feature on any compatible game without you having to do it manually.
You can also select VRR for titles that aren’t explicitly designed for it. On the one hand, this can lead to better video quality, but on the other hand there is a risk of unsightly graphic errors (via Playstation blog).
But what is VRR anyway?
VRR is a technology that matches the PS5’s frame rate to that of your screen. This is important because images on the console are sometimes rendered faster than they can be displayed on the TV. In short, VRR results in smoother viewing without annoying artifacts or screen tearing.
