New World brings big May patch to the PTR - Lets you test PvP arenas and adjustments to the combat system

New World brought the new 3v3 arenas for PvP and some other changes to the PTR server on April 28th. Anyone who also has an account for New World can use it. Although the arenas are still in testing, they’re already getting good feedback. The official release is planned for May.

What’s in the new update? The big May patch will bring some changes to New World:

  • The 3v3 arenas in PvP are introduced. You can enter from level 20 and there is an automatic matchmaking that you can enter from anywhere in the world. A round lasts 2 minutes and a best of 5 is played overall.
  • Two new PvP currencies will be introduced. PvP EXP climbs a reward path, and Azoth Salt allows you to purchase new rewards. These rewards are for the arenas, but also for wars, outpost storming, and open world PvP.
  • The Shallows dungeon will be included in the mutation rotation, and three new mutators will be introduced, bringing new challenges.
  • The Varangian Knights attack again. In any case, they provide a new event for players between level 25 and 30. The knights first appeared in the November patch.
  • The combat system is optimized. Healers should be able to heal better with heavy armor, dodge will be adjusted and the bow will have a better gaming experience when firing.

When can I try the patch? The patch appeared on the PTR server on April 28 at 7:00 p.m. Every player can test it there.

When is the patch officially released? The release of the update on the regular servers is planned for May. There is no specific date yet.

The May update also brings over 100 bug fixes

What else is in the May patch? The developers have the preliminary Patch notes in the official forum released. The word “fixed” appears there exactly 144 times. In addition to the major innovations, there are also a number of game improvements.

Highlights are:

  • More radius information in the tooltips for AoE abilities.
  • Rooted players can now dodge and avoid damage while stationary.
  • Balance adjustments to Strength, Constitution, and Dexterity attribute bonuses.
  • Coatings are no longer removed from weapons when gathering materials by equipping the gathering tool.
  • There were several fixes for desyncs between server and client.
  • Fixes for bugs and exploits in dungeons.
  • The gathering speed and the speed of rotating capture points in Outpost Assault have been reduced.
  • Many perks have been fixed or at least the description has been revised so that it is now correct.
  • The latest weapon, the blunderbuss, has received a number of bug fixes.
  • Chests in the inventory can no longer be opened if you are already overloaded.

If you want to take a closer look at all the changes, you should definitely take a look at the patch notes.

What do you think of the big May update? Do you like the innovations? Will you be testing them on the PTR or will you wait until the full release?
