On April 26th, the new update for The Sims 4 flushed something onto our main menu that we couldn’t escape for a day. She glared at us with her deep blue eyes and an eerie grin, like she was fresh out of Strangerville or a demon escape from a horror movie. We’re talking about Callia Maebey, better known as Ring Ring Girl. (via SimsCommunity)

The Invasion of the Ring Ring Girl

Who is Callia Maebey? The young adult has so far eked out a rather quiet support job in the Sims 4 main menu, where she suggests the functions of the cell phone to us. Appropriately, her name is said to be an allusion to the song “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen (via Sim’s fandom). Her facial expression was already crazy and worried some players, but that’s about it – until now.

With the latest update (Console 1.58/PC version 1.87.40.1030) she has now freed herself from the shackles of the main menu, or rather, she was released into the wide Sims 4 world by the Sims developers for reasons that have not yet been understood. Because we couldn’t escape the young lady with the obsessive look in the main menu, she was everywhere!

And not only that. It had also infested the official The Sims Twitter account. With her crazy look she was staring at us from the profile and header picture as well.

Get Callia into the game – or rather don’t!

The mad spook in the redesigned main menu and on Twitter is now over, but we’re not completely rid of Callia Maebey. “I’m here to stay!” it says in their description text of the gallery, where we can now actually download them as a sim.

But beware! You should think twice about getting involved with the Ring Ring Girl and bringing her into your game. She has a selfish and unpredictable character, which her look already suggests. Soliloquy and unpredictable actions are not uncommon as she tries to make as many friends as possible. And once you’ve fallen into their trap, it takes a lot of effort to keep them happy.
