Today, May 1st, Pokémon GO runs a three-hour raid day. During this time you will also receive free raid passes and a higher chance of shinys. We show you the event details.

What is this event? On April 29th, Pokémon GO launched the Mega Moment event, featuring special research, new spawns, changed field research rewards, and the new Mega Kangaroo.

As part of this event, a three-hour raid day featuring the new Mega-Kangama is taking place this Sunday.

When does it start? The Mega Kangama Raid Day begins at 11:00 a.m. local time. It will then run for three hours, ending at 2:00 p.m. local time.

What bonuses are there? During the event period, Mega Kangama will appear more frequently in Mega Raids. As reported by the first trainers who have already been able to take part in other time zones, the Kangama raids last for 6 hours per arena (via reddit.com). So you have enough time to get a team together.

Also, the chances of getting Shiny Kangama are increased during the event.

So that you can do some raids without spending any coins, you get free passes. During the event and up to two hours after, you can get a total of 5 free Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at Arenas.

At the start of the event in the earliest time zones, Mega Kangama had 47,948 WP in the raid. This made the raids harder and meant that trainer groups had to increase members from 2 to at least 3. A few hours later, the bug was fixed and Kangama has 37,140 WP in Mega Raids, which makes defeating in duos with the right counters possible again.

There’s an exciting change to raids coming next week: the first legendary Mega Pokémon are coming.
