Streamer broadcasts her vacation on Twitch - Shows live how her cell phone is stolen

Elina is a streamer from Sweden and traveled to Italy four days ago. From there she transmitted her holiday experiences with her mobile phone. However, her last live stream ended ugly. A motorcyclist stole her smartphone live. However, the streamer is in good health.

What exactly happened? Elina walked the streets of the Italian city of Naples, initially moving on the main streets. However, over time she moved away from these big streets into small alleys because she was being followed by a drunk man and was also afraid that her cell phone could be stolen. She therefore did not hold the smartphone too far away from her with her selfie stick (via Twitch).

However, switching to the small streets didn’t help. Shortly before the theft, she said: “The streets are so long here, it’s crazy. Now if I died live on camera, live on stream, I guess that would be good content.”

Less than five seconds later, a motorcyclist drives past her and steals the cell phone. The stream continues for a few more seconds and you can see the street Elina looked at before. But then the stream is switched off by the thief.

The theft is available as a clip on Twitch:

Streamer is doing well despite the shock

How did the streamer react to the theft? Shortly after the robbery, Elina reported in a story on Instagram and revealed that she was doing well given the circumstances. She was “a little upset” because her cell phone was stolen.

According to comments from her community, she is said to be traveling in Italy with her father and brother. It is not known whether they will continue the holiday together.

In the comments on reddit and on Instagram, many users are dismayed by the theft and generally warn about the city of Naples. Thefts by motorcyclists are not uncommon there.

Streams in real life are not without risk: The so-called IRL streams are popular on Twitch because viewers can follow their idols in real life. They see what they eat, where they walk or how they spend their holidays. But there are always dangerous situations.

For one, many streamers hold the camera far in front of them, making it easier to steal. In 2020, for example, we reported on how a streamer for Pokémon GO live got his cell phone stolen. Streaming and interacting with the chat also makes you less attentive to your surroundings.

On the other hand, they show their location live and can thus become the target of attacks or stalking. This happened to streamer Beddle, for example. She showed IRL streams from her area and a stalker spotted exactly where she lived:
