When does the event start? Operation Monarch goes online on Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. According to the current status, the event will run for 2 weeks, until May 25th.

How does event mode work? The game is played in teams of 4 and the rules are basically based on the normal Battle Royale rules. 150 people are dropped over Caldera and whoever is still standing at the end wins.

However, you can draw on particularly large tools on the way to victory. You control King Kong and Godzilla.

In the course of the match you have to find the “Monarch Stream Device”. With this you take control of the monsters.

  • Godzilla destroys entire regions with his atomic breath
  • King Kong throws boulders and stomps across the map

How exactly the search for the device works is still unclear. It’s also not entirely clear whether the monsters rampage across the island all the time or only when controlled by a player.

Apparently you fight the monsters with special weapons that you can find on Caldera. Special bunkers open, which provide you with large war equipment for the fight.

Will there also be normal Battle Royale during the event? If you don’t like the event, you don’t have to play. The normal battle royale modes will also be online and you will not be forced to deal with the monsters.

What are the rewards? There hasn’t been any announcement about this yet. From experience, however, there are likely to be special tasks related to the event.

If you complete a task, you get themed cosmetics. If you complete all tasks, there is an extra reward.

What else does the event bring into play? In addition to the crazy event mode, new cosmetic bundles are coming to the shop with a matching monster theme. The skin bundle with the blue Godzilla skin is already online, the trailer for the bundle is on YouTube (via youtube.com).

What happens after the event? As things stand, Operation Monarch will run for 2 weeks. This is evident from the playlists published by developer Raven Software.

However, the devastation of the two monsters could result in further damage to the Warzone map. A lot has already changed on Caldera at the start of Season 3 and there may be more to come.

The Season 3 roadmap announces mid-season that there are more secrets to be discovered in the Caldera underground. An official teaser suggests that the surface is no longer safe (via twitter.com).

This could mean that Mid-Season 3 will start right after the event and will bring more map adjustments with it.
