Mass Effect may have given away Shepard’s return and I almost fell out of my chair
There is not too much information about the continuation of the Mass Effect series. While a first teaser lets us know that Liara is returning and that Commander Shepard’s fate will also play a role, apart from that we don’t know much about the characters. At least until now, because now developer BioWare may have inadvertently revealed that we’re reprising the role of Shepard in Mass Effect 4.
BioWare teases Shepard’s return, then quietly deletes the clue
In addition to a short teaser trailer for Mass Effect 4 (or 5 if you count Andromeda as the fourth part), there is hardly any information about the new part so far. Although there are already references to the setting and recurring characters, it still leaves open when the new part will play or whose role we will slip into.

The next Mass Effect has a first trailer
After a poster for N7-Day scattered references to the geth, the game went quiet for a while. But that poster could have unintentionally revealed that Shepard is actually returning in the new part.
BioWare deletes reference to Shepard’s return: The N7-Day poster is currently available for purchase in the BioWare Store. So far there is nothing unusual about that. Like YouTubers MrHulthen However, as discovered, the poster’s description contained a huge story chunk hinting at Shepard’s return:
Shepard’s final mission may have averted the Reapers’ threat, but at a cost, including Earth itself. As Shepard and the survivors pick up the pieces, fans wonder what’s next.
The text description was not online for too long, and it has even been changed twice in the meantime. First, on a lyric that Shepard removes: “The Reapers’ threat may have been averted, but at a great cost, including the Earth itself. While the survivors must pick up the pieces, fans wonder what’s next.” and then to a text that reveals absolutely nothing about the story.
Warning: the following paragraph contains spoilers for Mass Effect 3
This is where BioWare may actually have inadvertently teased Shepard’s return. Even the first teaser hinted that the Destroy ending could be canon for the series – also the only ending in which Shepard can survive.

A pinch of caution is required
Of course, this is clearly an oversight, the text has not been changed for nothing. However, whether that means that the information was simply not correct, or whether BioWare simply did not want to reveal it yet, we can only speculate at the moment. But at least one can hope.
Do you want Shepard to return in the new Mass Effect, or do you prefer a new main character?
