Elden Ring actually requires hammer-hard finger acrobatics - but a player becomes a hero by doing nothing

Elden Ring has had a problem in PvP since release. So-called AFK farmers bag tons of runes without doing anything for it. They waste other players’ time and annoy the entire community. Now a player was on a successful vendetta – and didn’t lift a finger for it.

In Elden Ring, players have been destroying PVP for quite some time, the so-called AFK farmers use a lousy trick:

  • They go with their horse to a place that cannot be reached on foot
  • Then they keep attracting new PvP invaders.
  • However, since they cannot summon a horse, they are stuck and cannot attack the opponent.
  • These players are now ‘trapped’ in the farmer’s world. In order to continue playing, they have to give up or lose to the farmer’s helpers.

The AFK farmers are rewarded with runes for these retreats. That’s why they deliberately place themselves in distant corners of the map and get a fat reward for twiddling their thumbs and doing nothing. So you accept that the fun of others is ruined in this way.

Reddit user Teasnarker had enough of that. Angry, he wanted to put a spanner in the works for the AFK farmers. To do this, he hatched an insidious plan: he became a hedge himself.

In the video we explain how the multiplayer in Elden Ring actually works:

Everything you need to know about multiplayer in Elden Ring

“I hid in a bush for 3 hours”

What got the player so excited? Teasnarker explains his situation like this: “I ambushed an AFK farmer in Liurnia five times in a row, honestly. He’s on top of a cliff where you just can’t get to him. After 4 senseless invasions I’ve had enough”.

His plan was to fight fire with fire. He didn’t want “this innkeeper to get another rune from me”.

What did the player do? On his 5th invasion, Teasnarker ran away, sat in a bush, and used the Mimic’s Veil. With this item, the player turns into an object in the environment – and was able to camouflage himself perfectly in the bushes. Some see parallels to the NPC Boc in this.

Because the AFK farmer’s helpers couldn’t find him and the player didn’t want to give up either, the farmer didn’t get a single rune: “I AFK farm the AFK farmer”

For 3 patient hours, Teasnarker sat in the bush, turning an invasion into a very special revenge campaign. PvP in Elden Ring became, at least in this match, a battle between two players who probably didn’t even have their hands on the controller.

Teasnarker can’t do anything himself, but he takes it with humor and satisfaction. He recommends the community to emulate this tactic.:

I like it in here. There are rocks and leaves and sometimes a bug flies by to keep me company. If you’re raiding an AFK farmer and have some time, I recommend doing that as well. But you have to take another bush. This is mine. […]

The bush is my home now. I can’t get out You can’t force me to do this.

In this article, we have also addressed the fact that the concept of fairness in the Elden Ring multiplayer is a controversial one:
