Final Fantasy XIV: Unlucky One loses valuable item because he ignores a basic rule that you all know

MMORPGs like Final Fantasy XIV often have players endlessly grinding to get the best gear. You often get nothing. But sometimes players have only themselves to blame if they don’t get rewarded for the toughest activities. An example is an unlucky person who robbed himself of his extremely valuable loot.

A player shared a screenshot on the FFXIV subreddit after completing the new Ultimate Raid, the Dragon Wars, causing ridicule and pity. One of his group members made a fatal mistake.

  • The screenshot shows what rewards were received from the participants. One of the other players got a Dragon War Token, a particularly valuable item.
  • The token can be exchanged for powerful weapons, but can only be redeemed once per week.
  • The problem: The player had a full inventory. Apparently he didn’t bother to get his inventory in order beforehand and thus observed one of the basic rules of Final Fantasy XIV.

Because if you have a full inventory and then want to pick up items, they disappear. The player has thus lost a very valuable reward due to his carelessness.

Numerous players comment on this and pity the unlucky fellow, others make fun of him for ignoring one of the simplest rules in what is probably the toughest raid in the game.

“Imagine you have enough skill for an Ultimate Raid, but not for a tidy inventory”

How the players react: Some commentators speculate that it shouldn’t theoretically be possible to get the item back from a game master afterwards. Opinions differ as to whether this is possible and if so, whether it should be done.

There is also disagreement as to whether the loss is not a major problem for the player. For example, write plantainrepublicthat it might have taken a while to master the raid.

But the second time around, it should be a lot easier for the unlucky guy now that he knows the mechanics: “It took 100 hours to get the first one. It probably takes 100 minutes to get the second one.”

Some criticize the inventory system as a whole and suggest possible improvements. So there are a few suggestions, for example there should be a kind of timer for such items so that players can still create space in the inventory.

Another idea is that “lost” items should simply be mailed to the player’s warehouse, as is the case in many other MMOs. In general, Square Enix has already made improvements in recent years and, among other things, increased capacity.

Some commenters just make fun of the player. writes like this LightSamus: “Imagine you have the time and skills to create an Ultimate Raid, but zero skills to have a decent inventory.”

Apparently, the item doesn’t seem to have been that important to the player in question anyway. Reddit user MierinEronaile chimed in: “This is a picture of my raid leader and he didn’t do it on purpose, but he just doesn’t care that much about the tokens because you get them anyway. That also happened to him with TEA.” Unfortunately, it cannot be verified whether the statement is correct.

In principle, however, it is recommended that you tidy up your inventory so that you do not lose any valuable items.

But how do you see it? Do you think that’s not so wild, or do you agree with the critics of the inventory system? How is your order?
