Xbox boss speaks out after Starfield move
Update from May 13, 2022: The announcement that Starfield and Redfall would have to be pushed back several months wasn’t well received by all fans. Team Xbox boss Phil Spencer therefore spoke up via Twitter to admit:
“These decisions are tough for our teams making the games and for the fans alike. While all teams have my full support as they need more time to actually release these great games when they’re ready, we’ve also heard your feedback. You expect us to deliver quality and consistency, and we will continue to work to meet those expectations.“
As a result of the two shifts, Microsoft is once again looking at a long drought without major in-house productions. And that despite the fact that a lot of money had been spent in recent years to be able to shine right here from the Xbox Series generation. Meanwhile Sony announced that it would invest even more money in its own first-party games in the future to want.
Original report from May 12, 2022: EAt the end of April we reported on one former Bethesda employee who shared some exciting details about Starfield had betrayed. This ex-employee with Resetera Nick Hevy008 was already able to play the SciFi RPG and was certain: the game is too ambitious, has too many features and will never be able to appear in the planned form on November 11, 2022. At the same time, Hevy008 admitted that those responsible at Bethesda definitely want to keep to this special date (Skyrim was released on 11/11/11). If need be, content would have to be cut out.
Starfield not until 2023
Well, Hevy008 was wrong. At least as far as Bethesda’s willingness to let go of the appointment if it helps make a better game. The developers informed their fans via Twitter that not only Starfield, but also the open-world co-op shooter Redfall from Arkane Austin will be postponed to the first half of 2023.
Despite this postponement, chances are we’ll see Starfield’s gameplay debut in June 2022. On June 12, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. the big showcase event from Microsoft and Bethesda will take place. The official announcement said: “The diverse program has a lot of surprises in store for every taste. The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase revolves around all the creative and varied games that will soon be appearing in the Xbox cosmos – be it in Game Pass, on Xbox or for PC! ” Of course we will be there for you to keep you up to date on all important announcements.
