5. One Thousand Wings

When was the ship available? The ship received its release in Season 3 and disappeared after the Season of Arrivals when the Fleet of Darkness cut off the Keepers of Io.

How did you get hold of the ship? The ship was tied to a secret mission “The Whisper” on Io. You had to tackle the mission on heroic and collect “essences” from secret chests.

If you did that to five chests, you had the chance to activate a Vex portal in the mission, destroy oracles in the right order and then loot one last chest.

After you got hold of the plan, you still had to go through three runs with different elemental mods, which rotated weekly. Once you’ve done that, the ship is yours.

Why is the ship so rare? Not everyone knew about the secret mission on Io. Players had to specially activate a secret portal to participate in the mission. Coupled with the frequent runs and the puzzles, not everyone could get hold of the ship.

4. Iron Pendragon

When was the ship available? The ship received its entry in Season 2. It is unclear exactly when the ship disappeared, but in Year 2 the ship was no longer available to Lord Saladin.

How did you get hold of the ship? This ship was obtained by gaining ranks in Iron Banner and opening engrams. However, the drop wasn’t guaranteed, so you had to redeem a lot of Iron Banner tokens to get a chance to get the ship.

Why is the ship so rare? The ship is so rare because not many players played the looter shooter at the time. Additionally, this is the first Iron Banner ship in Destiny 2.

3. The Platinum Star

When was the ship available? The ship appeared with the release of the Black Armory in Season 5 and disappeared with the release of the major DLC Beyond Light.

How did you get hold of the ship? To get the ship, you had to forge 100 legendary Black Armory shapes.

1. Chosen by the Emperor

When was the ship available? The ship was available in Season 7 when the menagerie opened on the Leviathan. However, when the Black Fleet appeared on the radar, Calus took the initiative and disappeared with his Leviathan.

How did you get hold of the ship? You could only get the ship by completing the heroic menagerie and opening the loot box at the end. However, the plane wasn’t a guaranteed drop, so you had to go through hard mode more often.

Why is the ship so rare? Heroic Menagerie did not have matchmaking. Either you had a capable fireteam to survive, or you picked random players. After that, it was only important to survive and kill the boss. However, these were often so hard that many players failed and gave up.
